Each year near the start of Mars' southern winter warm air rises over Arsia Mons volcano forming ice and dust clouds. Sometimes this dust coalesces into a spiraling cloud that can be over 15 km high. This digital painting depicts one such dust spirals.#Sciart #space #astronomy #SolarSystem #Mars

Woe to the frog this beetle tracks

The other beetle is untucked and shines with coppery tones. It holds its friend still before it rolls further down the slope. They both have speech bubbles to indicate their communication, the coppery beetles speech bubble has a question mark, and the green beetles speech bubble has a disorientated emoticon, with swirls for eyes.

Illustration of a dubia roach (Blaptica dubia (F)) meeting a springbok mantis (Miomantis caffra (F)). You may not know it, but the humble cockroach and the noble mantis are close relatives! Blattodea (cockroaches and termites) and Mantodea (mantises) are sister groups in the superorder Dictyoptera. Both groups lay egg cases called ootheca, and they share several specific anatomical features.
