and, well, it is from the point of honor and morality, but it's not like Kaigaku can (allow himself to) see it that way.

It's interesting, too, he's the one to first brings up their close connection, tho... I wonder if that was the first time he'd ever acknowledged himself as Zenitsu's anideshi.

I also think, not knowing his sensei took his own life to make up for Kaigaku's actions, Kaigaku expected Zenitsu to be at least a little impressed with his survival or a little happy that he didn't die. But if course that didn't happen, and his survival is treated as a mistake.

I don't think there's really anything that could change Kaigaku's willingness to become a demon to survive except interference to putting him in that position that he has to make that choice in the first place
