I gen don't think he knows what trans would even mean, he'd only understand "femboy". But he would still not be trans if Sqq's body happened to have a vagina, because SJ presented as male, was considered by society as male, and considered himself male. As would SY - so the trans aspect falls apart

you could make a trans man allegory for sure & I like envisioning worlds where he IS trans, but re: the novel's actual SY he isn't trans. If you gave a cis man a vagina I don't think they would immediately feel "I'm now trans" or "I'm now a woman" they would just feel upset and/or violated 🤔 imo!

Yeah mainly this is what I meant - for me being trans is when you are making a choice to act on the incongruity of your assigned gender vs who you actually are. In his case, SY wouldn't be trans because he WAS actually amab. so there's no journey to undergo unless it's being a trans woman
