Praying that the ceasefire holds, that aid can come in, the hostages can come out and Gaza can start to rebuild after two of the worst years imaginable.

The Government's new funding means £1.9m more for local prevention and outreach; £92k for additional drug and alcohol services and £350k to help children living in temporary accommodation. Labour working together locally and nationally to help people www.westminsterlabour.org.uk/issues/housi...

Delighted that Westminster is getting an extra £2.3m directly as part of this new government funding package, in addition to support for pan-London services. This includes over £1.9m for rough sleeping services and £350k to help children in temporary accommodation www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
London to get £36m boost in homelessness funding
London will see the biggest share of the £84m being distributed across England's councils.

Great to work with BBC Verify to evidence how the 90 day rule for short-term lets in London is being routinely broken. Mandatory registration with 90 night tracking underpinned by the use of Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs) to stop bogus listings can't come soon enough.

The Islamophobic arson attack on the Mosque in Peacehaven was just the latest awful incident that has raised deep concern in communities in Westminster & beyond-Antisemitism, Islamophobia, Homophobia, racism & far-right incitement have no place in Westminster www.westminster.gov.uk/news/leaders...

It’s been a pretty depressing day with antisemitic terrorism in Manchester and Islamophobia, misogyny and abuse of power here in the West End. Let’s see if we can do better as a country tomorrow, because we have a lot to do to help make things better.

"Residents are horrified by the antisemitic terrorist attack we have witnessed on our streets"

The behaviour uncovered by Panorama at Charing Cross is disgusting and a deeply depressing reminder about the journey still to be travelled to get these sort of people and this sort of culture out of the Met.

At Labour Conference, CLF co-hosted a panel with @fabiansociety.bsky.social on London’s inequality.

Despite being the UK’s economic engine, London has the highest poverty levels. We need fair funding, better jobs, and more devolution.

Important to hear Keir stand up against the racist fringe that tries to sully what we stand for as a country and set our plans to open up NHS appointments and apprenticeships

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again.

Ignore the haters, London is the 🐐
Graphic with the headline “London is the greatest city in the world” set against a bright view of the River Thames with the Shard, Tower Bridge and the city skyline.

The text celebrates what makes London special: regularly voted the number one city in the world, incredible diversity with over 300 languages spoken, world-class transport, world leader in finance tech and life sciences, best museums and galleries many free to visit, world-leading nightlife, food sport and music for every taste, host to the world’s best sporting events, home to seven Premier League clubs, globally-ranked universities, a city where you can be yourself and love who you love, and a place for everyone.

Have you got pictures of it? Will report it in (either send here or via email). Many thanks

Our city is far stronger than those who seek to divide it. Our tolerance, diversity & energy unsettles some but we’re not going to bow & scrape to appease those who don’t understand true patriotism-pride in our place, community & country that is so much more than they imagine

How did this happen?

Two cycle hire docking stations installed in 2023/24

As Lime & Forest use was growing fast

These stations are at the edge of the network

Yet with 50+ trips/day they are more popular than 1/3 of Westminster stations many of which have been in place 15 years & are more central

NEW: Thanks to record funding from City Hall, the West End will see a 50% increase in the number of police officers on the beat and an additional 90 police officers working in new or enhanced town centre teams in hotspot areas.
Met Police promises to tackle West End crime hotspots
Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley says he is doubling the number of officers tackling West End crime.

We discussed important opportunities to deepen partnership working between the Council, GLA, Met, businesses and local residents representatives. Also really good to hear how these new officers are part of a package of measures that will reduce abstractions across Westminster.
