The corpse at every wedding, the bride at every funeral.
So while we were busy on sunday at church/processing local election results, the govt announced a massive methane target change, which exceeds the emissions of the entire United Kingdom. It's a colossal loss for NZ's climate & economic future.

Farmers off the hook on climate means rest of us pick up the slack
Comment: The Government's methane announcement is the policy equivalent of a steaming cowpat on cross-partisan climate consensus.

The logic here makes no sense.

The govt thinks it is important to create no-go zones for seabed mining where they conflict with offshore windfarms

But those no-go zones will NOT apply to fast-track mining applications. Why? Surely a no-go zone is a no-go zone?

Seems to me if a 7-year old is able to write a submission well enough that a councillor can't tell whether or not its written by an adult - then good on them, and no reason why it shouldn't be considered!

I don't want to live in a society where our children get no say in the future they'll inherit.

Fantastic work from the greens yet again. And Greens win by picking up Labour's slack.

But Labour should be doing this stuff. They should be doing fiscal analysis, spotting weaknesses, finding holes, creating killer graphs etc.

Glad @NZGreens are firmly behind a Ministry for Green Works to create 25,000 jobs in the construction sector directly & 16k indirectly. Plus 15k Jobs for Nature.

Construction jobs are often gendered.

Let's also focus on resourcing care/education jobs.

Beyond outrageous. Methanex manages to avoid paying tax, while paying $70 dividends to Canadian owner. They've received hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies from the taxpayer. Meanwhile, they're killing the climate and putting jobs at risk.

Over three quarters of our freshwater fish (and >65% of freshwater manu/birds) are at risk of extinction.

Meanwhile, dairying accounts for around a quarter of emissions, but well under 5% of GDP

We can't keep farming this way. It doesn't make economic or ecological sense.
