I think this letter gives a really interesting sense of how belligerent Charles had become in July 1642. Warwick writes to him explaining why he took command of the fleet, Charles then offhandedly accuses him of high treason.

Who knew the ceiling of the Rhode Island State House library was designed to resemble a leather book binding? Thank you to State Librarian Megan Hamlin-Black for wow-ing my Colonial America class with the library and with 18th century legal documents.
