Welcome to acesential's bsky!

Local weeb bat (formerly copper pony).

I draw all sorts, often fan art, but also a smattering of my own OCs across various different ideas/stories.

2000s Anime/Manga inspired, with some western zest here and there.

Hope you enjoy my draws!

As it is, they would rather just a nod of acknowledgement for their contribution rather than an explicit credit. Per their wishes, I won't say who it is. Still, I would like to bring to attention that sometimes, I can't do everything on my own.

Also, everyone who knows, knows who it is.

I should also say that while they mainly do color flatting, they have also gone the extra miles and noticed parts I miss with my line art and have helped bridge those gaps as necessary!

They basically take the basic colors of the various characters provided by me and then use it to fill in the characters. This saves me a good amount of time, so I can focus more on shading and transition blending rather than filling everything in.

You may have noticed that some of my pieces have a wing off my signature. If you see that, then that's a sign that a good friend of mine helped me with the piece via color flatting.

It's not secret that coloration is the part I struggle the most with a piece, so I greatly appreciate their help.

A sequence many weeks in the making!

A Silence Suzuka TF/TG sequence for friend @theyellowcoat.bsky.social! I wanted this to really sell the sense of movement, so I referenced joggers, runners, and of course the sprinting animations of Umamusume!

I love Robot Alchemic Drive.

I never expected this weird little PS2 mecha game I played as a kid would suddenly become known by so many people. Makes me happy.

Here's a recording of my own playthrough~

Not everyone needs to or even wants to draw realistic portraiture, or even realistic people. Figure out what you wanna draw and work towards that. I do think that, when you reach a point where you realize you want to do so much more, the avenues for reaching that will still be open to you.
acesential.bsky.social
But not everyone has the same goals for art. Sometimes, you really just want to be able to draw your favorite, silly little guy. While I do think drawing from reality is still important, I also think cultivating an interest in drawing that will keep you drawing is even more so.

The same goes with drawing animals, objects, nature, landscapes- If I want to have a personal thing to say about these, I have to develop my own eyes and hands to communicate how I see these things.
acesential.bsky.social
In general, yeah. Though you have to consider what your goals in art are, too.

I want to draw a variety of people and faces. That requires learning from real life people, in order to get better- if I only ever work from cartoons/stylizations, I can only see things from those artists' perspectives.

Practicing some portraiture, working off some real faces.

Stylized I may be, always good to work from reality to resolidify where exactly I'm drawing from. Even the most stylized approaches have a foundation in the real world.

I saw this gif of Miwako Mizukoshi from HenSemi drooling something fierce and found it so amusing that I wanted a version of my own for Rowe.

So a little bit of drawing over later...

This was fun. Plus now I have a useful reaction for when I find something particularly appealing.

Here's the original gif. I never watched the anime, but when I looked her up-

"Miwako appears to have a number of fetishes, ranging from entomophagy to masochism, and she is the star pupil of the Abnormal Physiology seminar."

Yeah I chose the right gal.
