Sowore Drags IGP, Lagos Police Commissioner to Court, Demands N500 Million
Former presidential candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has filed a lawsuit against the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh. Sowore is demanding N500 million in damages, accusing the police of violating his fundamental rights after the Lagos Police Command declared him wanted on November 3, 2025. In a suit filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Sowore is asking for the enforcement of his rights to dignity, liberty, and freedom of movement, citing several sections of the 1999 Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
