Leading a gender-inclusive Latin dance workshop at the recent Alumni Reunion at my school. Sharing my culture, values, and dance in a welcoming space reminded me that joy, dance, and inclusion are critical, especially when many feel they don’t belong. Feeling so grateful for this!

I feel like there are more people on Bsky I wanna follow and interact with, but tbh the app has a lot of moving parts and it’s overwhelming. How do yall have the app configured to make it easier to interact? And who’s got great Ed and lang Ed feeds they can share?

When it comes to threatening a MEXICAN’S family…

Well…

…what we are seeing in LA is the FIND OUT stage after one FUCKS AROUND.

This post went off but back in 2003, people were very very *makes indistinguishable noises* upset that I’d say this aloud. Sad we’re here. Glad we arrived.
Abolishing ICE doesn’t seem so radical for people right now.

Dolores Huerta addresses a rally audience in Boyle Heights while LAPD helicopters fly overheard, attempting to muffle her speech. She condemns ICE and Trump.
What a wonderful surprise from the amazing people at my state’s WL organization! Their kindness truly brightened my day. 🥲💜🇲🇽
One of the things I value the most of PBL and Progressive Education is that no matter how shitty things are out there right now, but to see these final reflections in my student’s final portfolio give me a lot of much needed hope. #LangChat

I feel sad when I hear about colleagues who see their job as evaluating whether or not a student is "cut out for" AP/higher level classes, rather than doing everything in their power to build on their strengths, preparing them for high-level work.

A lens of inclusion helps EVERY student.
Como decimos en mi rancho… “ni pedo” 🫠🥲 Ahí será pa’la otra 🤷🏽
That is Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia. It's a lovely little town outside of Tunis. The Bambalouni is to die for, and the fricassé is the tastiest sandwich I've ever had in my travels!

Humble thanks and a solemn salute to the Black trans women who since before Stonewall have grittily fought—at great personal cost and often unto death—to tilt the world toward acceptance of us queers #TransDayOfVisibility

I didn't purposely time it to join bluesky on #TransDayOfVisibility, but I'm more than happy it worked out that way and to make my first post one of unconditional solidarity with and support for trans persons everywhere. You make the world better and more beautiful 🏳️‍⚧️
I send you a big hug; I sometimes have entertained that idea, but I feel like the situation out there is scarier than ever, and I want to hang on tight a bit longer. I don't know what the future holds, but if you leave the classroom, it would be a big loss for those who can learn from you.
I've joined the exclusive TOY club representing Vermont.
I’m beyond grateful for this milestone in my pedagogical career. I hope it signifies an opportunity to continue connecting, collaborating, sharing, and networking with like-minded educators.
Muchas gracias por este reconocimiento. ☺️💜🇲🇽

America, where we’re okay with a teacher literally taking a bullet for her students, but not with her hanging an “Everyone is Welcome” sign.

Having the option to learn a language, instead of being required to do so, is an immense privilege.

Something I've been telling my people: Hold the line.

Notice what happens when you don't. Or, for that matter, what happens when you *do*.
The attack on DEI shows why liberals should stop arguing about "strategic" use of language forever. DEI stands for three uncontroversial virtues that most every American accepts, and the right still turned it into a vile slur. It doesn't matter what you say - they will poison it because YOU said it.

NECTFL is always a homecoming. From friendly faces at registration, to my AI panel with the amazing Ryan, Benjamin, Abelardo, and Julia, to my LEAPers with Leslie (Cohort 1 graduated!), to quiet conversations in side alleys and over reception cheese, it’s good to belong.

#Edchat #EdSky hey, teachers—Ramadan begins on Saturday! Do students who are fasting have a place to go during lunch other than the lunchroom, if they want? If you’re not sure, could you offer to admin to be that place for the month of March?
Hace mucho que no comparto cosas. Como que siento esta red social medio lenta. ¿A quiénes debería de seguir por acá? Se aceptan recomendaciones.
