working on my book and came across this gem from my dissertation. glad this guy is canonized in academic research.
it was super windy, which made the set up challenging and we had to scrap the bookmark making station, but we made it work!
thanks to a donation from the Brooklyn Book Bodega, we gave out nearly 300 books to trick or treaters at the kids’ school Halloween event!
5 rounds of revision later it's here!
my new article, Beyond Antiracism: Abolitionist Teacher Learning Toward Institutional School Change, was just published in the Journal of Teacher Education!

if it's behind a paywall for you, message me and I can send it to you.

early voting in costume is becoming a family tradition. jellyfish for zohran.
It’s quite tedious and not a perfect system, but happy to explain how we did our target list. if you want to chat, DM me! @dylanflesch.bsky.social taught me!
i watched a doc about those guys that listen to police scanners & chase leads to record video & sell to news stations (e.g., freeway car accidents). i remember they said firefighters welcomed them (please record what we do!) and cops were always rude and pushing them away. very telling.
If you want to take it a step further, reach out to your city council member and schedule an IN-PERSON meeting. Our goal is to get library advocates in front of every councilmember in NYC by January. Go here for some resources: nycplan.org/actions/

We had a similar letter writing campaign to the mayoral candidates in the Spring. That resulted in @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social adding a 0.5% funding promise to his platform. (!!)
“hmmm, I’m not sure I’ll have the bandwidth to run that program again this year”

… one week later…

“so I think I’d like to run it at triple size with a larger audience and budget”

why am I like this??
