History student, percussionist, loves video games (esp. RPGs and platformers), and music connoisseur. Bigots get banned! I consider myself a secular humanist.

I try to hear different styles. But I really like punk rock and J-fusion.

I heard Glassjaw's album, "Worship and Tribute" (2002). It's called one of the all-time post-hardcore albums. It's definitely post-hardcore, but I can tell it's not anything like the scene (such as PTV or SWS). The album feels similar to They're Only Chasing Safety, occasionally with gnarly riffs.

Went to hear Evanescence's Fallen album (2003). It's a pretty excellent work of gothic metal, with plenty of good orchestral work, epic and/or meaty riffs and of course Amy Lee's vocals. The odd ball is Bring Me to Life, where Paul McCoy's rap vocals have increasingly stuck out like a sore thumb.

Schools should require essays and all other assignments to be hand-written (unless there's a handicap). That will make using AI a lot harder. Even if the student uses AI to look up the answers, they will have to actually read them to copy it down. They'll also be more likely to see AI's slip-ups.

So, a pop punk version of the overplayed Xmas song? And hey, it's a pretty good one too. No, I'm not talking about the MCR one, I'm talking about the MFZB bros.

I heard 35 albums last November. This will be a thread for the top 10 albums I heard last month.

Finally heard some Asking Alexandria. I heard their first album, Stand Up and Scream (2009). Super good, from a pure musical perspective. It's like a mix of brutal Suicide Season metalcore with strong clean vocals and a little bit of techno elements. If only the lyrics didn't age like milk...

Heard Underoath's album "Ø (Disambiguation)" (2010). With Gillespie leaving, Spencer takes over all of the vocals. It seems the band decided on contrasting softer segments with heavy sections. I prefer LITSOS, but this is still a pretty good record in its own right.

Apparently @profanity.accountant exists. Let's see how "dirty" my mouth is online.

I heard Architects' album Lost Forever // Lost Together (2014). Yet another peak metalcore album. This band is quickly getting up there regarding favorites, and I've only heard two albums.

I heard T-Square's album "Next" (2014). It's a pretty good one like usual, with a style I can't put my finger on. But as a whole, I'd say there's more international influences in the composition, and some theatrical drama in there as well. So it is pretty unique in that regard.

I heard Dead Sara's "Ain't It Tragic" album (2021). A very fun and feisty rock album. Definitely not that heavy, and has some blues and old-school pop influence. But very good.

Finally approaching the end of my Scars on Broadway journey. I finished off with their self-titled album (2008). Being fresh off Mezmerize/Hypnotize, Daron wanted a more distinct sound, so this one is more classic rock sounding, though it occasionally touches on the metal. Overall, a decent album.

Further going into other groups. Today, it was Deftones, again. I went for an earlier album, White Pony. Having heard their first single, I feel it preserves some of the metal edge of old Deftones, but it dives into the weird artsyness they are now known for. Chino has a very unique, haunting voice.

I went and heard an album from Architects: All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us (2016). The last one for the late Tom Searle; he definitely put his heart and soul into those guitars and lyrics. Sam Carter does really well at delivering the emotion the lyrics demand. Very heavy but also with atmosphere.

It's that time again. I heard T-Square's album, Smile (2013) with another Reunion band. No Izumi, but we get the old percussionist Semba. This one brings more jazz influence than pop, but still relatively laid back, with a few groovy tracks. Cool synths too. About the same level as Nine Stories IMO.

Another day, another T-Square album to hear. This one is "Wings" (2012). This one pulls back from the peppy drive of the last 2 works, for a more laid back, happy instrumental pop sound. I do prefer this approach to the pop sound over Discoveries, plus I appreciate the quirkiness in some songs.

Heard the album Sacrament by Lamb of God (2006). Like Ashes of the Wake, it's a great package of heavy, groove metal goodness. Mark Morton and Randy Blythe show to be a potent duo once again. 8.5/10

The most annoying parts of powerscaling:
1. Fans of one character will find any way to say their character would solo the other one. It drips of bias.
2. Raw powerscaling does NOT mean the stronger character would win. Weaknesses and wildcard abilities are just as important as raw power.

Big happy 39th birthday to Bring Me the Horizon frontman, Oli Sykes! Here's to more success with BMTH and now his growing family!

All the way to Album #37 for T-Square. This one is Nine Stories (2011). Sonically it feels like a progression from 時間旅行. So, for the 2005-2020 lineup, this is probably in the top 3 albums I've heard, so far. 33 is still my favorite one from the lineup.

I have now heard Underoath's album, Lost in the Sound of Separation (2008). While it continues the heavy direction of Define the Great Line, it gets a little more experimental, but also even more abrasive, with fewer clean (but not poppy) vocals from Gillespie, and production that feels super punky.

One of the most epic album openers I've heard. Mixed with heavy, because the album is metalcore. Fitting because it's got these "heavenly" and "hellish" parts together.

Got to hearing the fourth album from Lamb of God, Ashes of the Wake (2004). The album is super heavy, as I expected. No melodic vocals, with Mark Morton's wicked riffs at the forefront. I can see how people compared early Bring Me the Horizon to this band. But not scene. Lyrics are deep too.

For once, an article about the "Men loneliness epidemic" understands. We can't blame women for this. Look at the system that's hurting us. Not just capitalism, but patriarchy. Men having privilege ≠ Men doing well mentally.

Such a good song, but also very dark. You know things were bad in Armenia when SOAD decided that they HAD to reunite for the Armenians' sakes.
