You will always find me in the kitchen at parties, even if I haven’t been invited.

I’ll get one of these out.
This book is 41 years old, and I’ve still not typed in every program yet.
If I’d have got this in the late 80s, it’s all I would have played. There are no bad titles on it, and they’re all the 128k versions, except for Finders Keepers.

Glorious!

Oh, that is lovely and clean! (As in the sleeve is uncluttered and bright and the vinyl colour pops nicely.)
Pre-ordered a book for myself a few months ago, and it arrived today.

A quick glance through has left me smiling. #Ayoade It’s a genius, albeit an incredibly self-conscious one.
Man, I loved Alexei Sayle’s shows. Incidentally, he was one of the judges when I was on BBC Genius with Dave Gorman, along with Tim Minchin. They couldn’t have got a better couple of judges.

(Shame my brief talking bit got cut, but I’m still on screen chair dancing a bit if you’re bored.)
Alexei Sayle's Stuff (19th October 1989). A lot more work goes into the production of each episode of Stuff than you might expect.

The young bucks will shrug their shoulders at this but for old dicks like me, this is enormous for two reasons.

Firstly, this was the first console war. This new console is the equivalent of Nintendo acquiring Sega, then releasing its own Master System.

I treated myself to a piece of @mooseallain.bsky.social artwork.

You should all treat yourself to one too. Go on, buy yourself a present. You’re the best, and you’re defo worth it.
Chris Serle always reminded me of Judith Hann.
Never seen or heard of Topaz cassettes before! Love how 80s they look!
Remember these cassettes from the early 80s?

Which did you use? (to store legitimate backups of games you definitely weren’t pirating illegally.)
I found some sunglasses earlier, so I tried them on and now everything looks funny.

Also, why have my work colleagues not got proper faces any more?
Annual selfie with @gamesyouloved.bsky.social at Play Expo Blackpool. I don’t usually look this happy in photos, but just before taking the photo, I struck my usual pose and Chris said “Come on, smile dude” which greatly amused me!
Spent the weekend playing on the soon-to-be-released Vectrex Mini at Play Expo Blackpool. Genuinely superb!

Did I get the high score on Mappy at #PLAYExpoBlackpool yesterday?

Yes, of course I did. And I’ll be back today to fight off any other Mappy-playing contenders.
I’m not saying I think about the 80s a lot, but I probably think about them 25/8.

November marks my 20th year on the magazine. I think that deserves a self-congratulatory pat on the back.
For every like this receives I'll try and recall one anecdote (interesting or otherwise) about my time on the mag.
(this is one of my favourite covers by armyoftrolls)
Translating my grandsons gurgles and arm waving gestures into proper words is what being a grandpa is all about.

He smacked his hand into his Dads face and screamed, which I obviously translated into, “Father, give me those shiny face pebbles.”

I’m not sure if he knows the word “eyes” yet.
I just thought it was a reference I’d not understood, so I pretended I knew exactly what you meant.

In other news, I requested a week off work earlier and added the reason “Hols”. When I clicked Send, my phone autocorrected it to Hold. So the request got paused. Stupid autocorrect.
Don’t worry, man. It’s Rapture-O’Clock somewhere, pal.
In that case, I saw this too…
