I already have a convoluted idea of how I want the series to end, which would be with a slightly open ending that connects book 5 of P&O to the near-end of Keeper of the Fallen, but I'm not sure if it'll work out the way I want. These boys never cooperate anyway 🫠

Talismans of Sin (and the boys putting their two braincells to work)

Obito took it from his friend’s outstretched hand to study it more closely; it didn’t look like much on the surface, but a sense he couldn’t logically explain told him not to underestimate it—like something ancient and powerful resided within, although believing as much sounded like utter nonsense. He didn’t dare mention those things to Daisuke and moved their conversation along instead. “I wonder if this is what Giichi was talking about—the person he met with asked if Hideo had the talisman he was supposed to deliver to General Aki.”

“A talisman?” Daisuke blinked, blankly taking the charm when Obito gave it back. “Hideo’s visit to the General would’ve been months after Giichi’s meeting with that person in Zhao, but I guess if your ultimate plan is to overthrow the crown, it’s smart to move slow sometimes.”

Daisuke would have a very active social media. Pics, vids, music, articles, arguments, memes, all his thing. And a cute pfp selfie of him and Obito 🤭

Obito's would be a bit quieter, but it'd still have some memes and stuff. His pfp would be a pic of him and Daisuke that Daisuke "made" him take 🤭

The more I got into things, the less sense it made. I didn't expect it to become a 5-books, but I needed to show why and how Daisuke, a former slave, wound up as a member of the Empire's "elite" forces, which meant starting all the way back when he first ran away from the plantations as a kid

When I was going through original plans for Poison and Opium, this was going to be a duology that had Daisuke and Obito being much more rivals-with-benefits-to-lovers. Obito had a bit of rank over Daisuke, but they still very much needed each other to function lol

Each dragon demon wields a special power. Kanashimi has shadows, Saigai has a flute that uses his spiritual energy to cause disasters or calm humans, Tatakai can shapeshift (limited lol), Jihuang uses illusions, and Wenyi and Hinkon are still being figured out 😅😅😅

When all six talismans are gathered and their dragon demon spirits have been summoned, they can open the path to the Betweem Realm (purgatory, basically lol) and unseal the Demon King, Zandaka, the universe's balancing force

“Where’s the talisman, anyway?” Daisuke asked as he finished tying his belt, then poked his head out from around the screen before pushing it back to let the light from the window into the rest of the room.

Obito shook himself, quickly recovering from how unexpectedly close his friend’s face had been to his own. “Junpei has it. We put it in an iron box for safekeeping, and I told him I’d kill him if he lost it, so he’s been protective over it. It hasn’t caused any problems yet.”
