It absolutely blows my mind that my laptop can execute hundreds of *trillions* of cycles per day, and easily does many *quadrillions* per week. Numbers like that are huuuuge

I couldn't find any good games for my password manager. So I made one.

1Crossword connects to your 1Password vault and generates a crossword entirely out of your passwords!

The crosswords are fun, simple, and great for sharing on social media when you finish. Enjoy!

I just completed "Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators" - Day 11 - Advent of Code 2016 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2016/day/11
This one is was tough for me. I'm not sure how to get my part 2 to under a second. Any ideas for pruning my search? I'm at about 45 seconds currently.

And that's a wrap for #adventofcode 2024! Thank you, @was.tl, for the effort you put into designing these puzzles. They are great! Merry Christmas!

Day 21 was the first day I didn't complete the puzzle on the day it was released, and day 22 is the first day where my solution takes longer than a second to execute. I'm simply making too many map inserts and lookups. Any tips for day 22 part 2 optimizations? #adventofcode

For today's #adventofcode puzzle, I constructed a map with the number of each length of cheat to check that my program matched the example. By removing just that map, my solution sped up by a factor of 3 for part 1 and a factor of 8 for part 2! That was surprising!

Still on track for a sub-1-second solution for every #adventofcode challenge this year! Day 20 runs in less than a tenth of a second, and I see some room for improvement. (I have to stop, though, otherwise I wouldn't work at all :) )

Last year was my first #adventofcode, and I had several solutions that took several minutes to run. This year I'm on track to get sub 1-second solutions every day! Today's solution consistently runs in under 6 ms, which I'm very happy about. #binarysearch

Not gonna lie, I'm very proud of my #adventofcode solution for today (day 17). It's a rare problem for which I can execute Part 2 (including parsing) faster than part 1!

how do you all remember every UUID? I find it really hard. so I wrote them all down on every uuid dot com

the list has fast search across all 2^122 values (so you can find your favorites) - hoping to add some social features like "trending UUIDs" soon!

Today's #adventofcode was pretty straightforward, but I got burned by an int overflow in C++. (I used an int instead of a long int on one line). Is there an elegant way of detecting issues like that? #cpp #programming

Is there an advantage to using a depth-first search over a breadth-first search for #adventofcode day 10? Would it use less memory on large inputs? They both get the job done in theory. Just curious whether anyone has opinions on this.

I did part 2 of today's #adventofcode problem in under two minutes! A new personal record! (But that's only because I don't read the description carefully and originally thought that's what part 1 wanted. :) )

Day 9 of #AdventofCode was rough for me. I had a couple of pesky bugs that took a while for me to figure out. In part 2, there was a case that I hadn't considered. I had to create my own test cases to find it. I am a huge fan of writing test cases to expose bugs.
