That's a very weird hashtag, star wars is doing better than ever. Andor, Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Kenobi, Bad Batch, Clone Wars, Rebels... The shows that SW outputs have almost all been really good or at the very least been decent (perhaps without Acolyte but oh well). SW is very much alive.

I already really like episodes 1-3 but to be honest I did not hate TFA or TLJ. TFA was okay in my view, and TLJ had very irritating moments, but also very good ones. But trust me, ROS is just... Incredibly infuriating.

Yes, I agree, there are many things I would have changed about E8, but it is what it is. Despite all its flaws I enjoyed watching it. E9 had me bored out of my mind.

Eh maybe not peak but tbh it was a pretty good movie

Today I concluded my sequels rewatch with "Rise of Skywalker" and it turns out that episode 9 is every bit as bad as I remembered, sometimes even worse. It is incoherent, utterly immemorable, and worst of all - boring. It was just dull.

Today I went on to watch "The Last Jedi" and was incredibly surprised it wasn't half as bad as I remembered it. True, there are some incredible flaws in this, but were it not a Star Wars film it would be very good. But since it is, it can only be remembered for amazing visuals & weird choices.

Rewatched "The Force Awakens" today and ... it's good? Like, it's actually a good movie, and more importantly, it's really good Star Wars. Not at its best, but definitely top half. Makes you realize just how bad pts. 8&9 were to ruin the sequels so thoroughly. What horrible scriptwriting.

Episode 8 was *not* guilty of, and that is - it was just boring. It got to the point where I really didn't feel like continuing because I was so bored with the clearly ludicrous and incoherent plot. And that's worst of all for Star Wars.
So no, episode 9 was a mess all of its own making. 6/6

its lore and characters just to get it over with and have the trilogy come to an end. On top of that, the visuals are nowhere near as great as in episode 8, Rian Johnson is by far the superior director.
Episode 9 is guilty of the worst sin that you can accuse Star Wars of, and that is one that 5/

completely different characters, a lot of the plot was absolutely ridiculius ("I am the spy"). The knights of Ren were utterly faceless and irrelevant in episode 9 despite their appearance.
Episode 9 was incoherent, jumpy, without aim, it violated several rules of good storywriting, it ignored 4/

that weird dagger corresponding to a location and depending on the death star ruin staying exactly in shape for at least 20 years, force healing, a force ghost interacting with real objects, and what not. On top of that, they did the characters dirty. Rose vanished, Finn and Poe were like 3/

everything, including episode 7, just to twist some weird "Somehow, Palpatine returned"-nonesense. The sins against the lore are just as bad as with ep 8, such as lightspeed-stutter (a chekhovian gun used esrly in the film then NEVER used again, weirdly), palpatines return, horses in athmosphere, 2/

I waited on purpose with replying to you because I first wanted to rewatch episode 9 again before I agree or disagree. Now I just finished and I can tell you I absolutely disagree.
None of the weaknesses of episode 9's story came from episode 8. Abrams made a deliberate choice to disregard 1/

Okay, interesting, I am no expert on this. I know it mostly from rusian / moscovian history and there from what I gather they usually seemed content with just extracting tributes and then sodding off again. Thanks.

The Mongols for the most part were less interested in local traditions and usually allowed people a fair degree of self-governance as long as tribute was paid, no? They were extractive, but beyond that not super oppressive.

Most academics who survive are the ones who had good luck early in their career. Like winning funding or publishing in a 'top journal'. This makes it easier to attract funding later & makes more room for failure.

Those early rolls of the dice will probably decide whether you survive or not.

The world record for the longest time handcuffed to another human is 123 days, achieved by a couple who kept breaking up and then getting back together and wanted to save their relationship. After the handcuffing, they swore never to get back together.

The "Explorer" is much more accurately named. Will you find it? Who knows. You'll sure gonna explore your file system though.

I can generally quite recommend "Spark of Life" by Erich Maria Remarque, I am quite sure I consider it one of the best books I've ever read, otherwise perhaps Rafik Schami's "Dark side of love" or Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children", both very good books

To be fair, that last one is just plain evil
