I wonder if extending the monthly reporting to 4 months this year was a response to the January levels being so low. I hope the HPSC rethink this approach for 2026 as it really impacts the granularity of the data for the Wave that, so far, has always arrived during those months. /4

Don't get complacent, though. The viral load picked up again, peaking in most places 2 months later than previous years, in September. 2025.

One location is even reporting the highest viral load in wastewater since January 2021! I'm looking at you, Swords. /3

Not only did it not show up, but the 2024 autumn dip continued for 6 whole months, right into January 2025, making it the month with the lowest levels of Covid in wastewater since January 2021. /2

Looking at the graphs, I noticed that there has been a January Wave and a June/July Wave in Ireland every year since 2021, EXCEPT for this year. A January Wave completely failed to materialise in 2025. I don't know why. /1

It is a shame that, despite saying weekly reporting would resume in October, the HPSC still hasn't released a Wastewater Surveillance report yet this month.

Please Note: A number of Treat Checkpoints have been set up on the stairs and will continue until further notice, or until today's Treat Quota has been met.

This is so good! I know everyone's workrate is different, but I'd love to know how long this took to rig.

Also, what's with food scientists making every veggie offering spicy?

That's not the Mcplant burger, is it? Such a shame. We got the McPlant in Ireland nearly 4 years ago. It's SO freakin tasty!

Until they treat housing as essential infrastructure requiring state intervention and not a commodity that exists to maximise profit, it's only going to get worse.

This government is the boiling frog watching a national emergency unfold while demanding the chef add more salt!

After 5 mins deep thought yesterday, I worked out how to instantly solve the traffic problem of getting into the Beacon Hospital.

I'm available for think tank work. For a reasonable fee, of course. My preferred unit of payment is (the monitary equivalent of) 1 Government Bike Shed per idea.

What's the opposite of Scope Creep?

Seriously, congrats.

September is Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month.

Age is a risk factor. If your neighbour is approaching 250 years of age, they are at significantly higher risk of suicide.

Why not reach out to a USA near you? A friendly chat could save a country.

They've done this for search in Gmail, too. I hate it.

Hey, billionaires! Radical idea...

How about you Move Fast and Fix Things, instead of [gesticulating at the world in general] whatever the fuck this is?

Well, Mondays always feel like a day and a half, and the sooner humpday starts, the better. So I'd say you're halfway there already.
