I think the problem isn't just extreme media consolidation in the news world... it's also fragmentation. To get the news you used to get for free, or $10 a month you now need to spend $150 across a dozen newsletters. It's the worst of both worlds.

I think that part of the contract we have with political commentators in America should be that they have to experience police tear gas and flash bangs once a quarter.
