The problem with extraction games as a genre is that they are impossible to monetise without either creating a really niche business model that will likely prevent adoption, or absolutely destroy the game.

Good queer communities are super easy to find on FFXIV but every other game is an absolute minefield. It's so easy to find toxic and homophobic people in these games.

One of the biggest fumbles in the general gaming community is the idea that MMORPGs, a genre that lives and dies on the quality of it's world building, have bad stories that you should skip to get to the good part.
