But made much more interesting by the fact it was written to be straightforwardly sympathetic to the protagonists preconceptions by a man who shares them!

like, no, the bad isn’t making it better, and it isn’t enjoyable BECAUSE of the bad in a cathartic/“ironic” sense, but the presence of major flaws creates a flavorful dynamic alongside the good which could really use a categorical shorthand.
