Well… I’d been trying to get some block time in a 172 at the Oshawa Airport… but the airport manager, Stephen Wilcox, is so rabidly anti-GA that he’s made it impossible for clubs and the like to operate from the field.

Look like I won’t be doing any small airplane flying any time soon. 🙁

ATC staffing shortages in Canada have now become so acute that NavCanada will intermittently close down control towers and revert to Class E airspace in places like Winnipeg and Kelowna.

Some Canadian airlines are saying that they won’t fly into those airports when the towers are closed.

An employer can also have stricter limits (as mine does).

Cannabis use is entirely prohibited and alcohol consumption, even beyond 12hrs, has limits.

Of course individual metabolism/tolerance is the big variable, so any one-size-fits-all regulation will be arbitrary.

Canadian #AvGeek fun fact:

A flight crew member can’t operate an aircraft under the influence of alcohol or within 12hrs of drinking.

Recreational cannabis is legal in Canada, *however*, a flight crew member can’t operate an aircraft within 28 DAYS of partaking.

Which is almost a de facto ban.

I have no idea who these two guys are.

I was walking by the river with my camera and they flagged me down and asked me to take their pictures.

I e-mailed them the results and they never got back to me.
