This is my first post here. I'm all about research focused on urban agriculture, environmental public health, prevention & how Indigenous people's connection to land improves health & wellbeing. I'm looking to find a social media community where I can reciprocally share ideas, research & emotions...
For university teachers out there, I have a question around
an undergraduate student asking for a selfie with me. Is this ethical or not?

A student asked me today for one with them and I wasn't sure this was ok practice or not... what are other academics thoughts on the matter?

Thank you, The Sydney Morning Herald for showing interest in our research on the relationship between housing, gardening & health.

The authors are excited to share our work with a wider audience because we believe it has the potential to influence policy & practice.

‘I’d feel like I couldn’t survive’: For these Sydneysiders, having a garden is a primal need
Finding somewhere to garden is increasingly hard for older Australians, yet the emotional and physical benefits are significant. And it is a green way to fight loneliness.

No one would be confused about what is happening here if they saw it in another country.

Getting to write about solutions to world problems based on hope & joy rather than fear & anger, a privilege & refreshing considering current discourse.

But by far the biggest achievement of my new book was to write about my dad’s dementia journey & reflect on the love I have for this person. 2/3
Proud moment alert 📢

Getting to finally share a copy of my book with my two heroes, my mum and dad, was special.

Getting to develop this important contribution to the literature with a trailblazer in the field of ecology Professor Monika Egerer a deeply humbling experience.

Is social media the most effective tool of “dividing and conquering” society we have seen in modern times?

And if so who are the main actors and their objectives? Ironic I am posting this on social media hahaha

Having taught now for over 2 decades for me passion for the content area always trumps perfection and my students tend to appreciate this. And in my mind happiness and passion link so yes I agree

So you are doing a very important job is what I was saying…
You art work matters very much to this world l & don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. We saw during Covid-19 how important & undervalued the arts are but that doesn’t mean people don’t care. We do. To you & all the artist out there without you in the world life would be boring. I know I’m not alone
In 2 weeks, our gardening and housing report will be launched.

We still have free tickets available to our launch and lunch at the Hawthorn Hotel if you would like to join us on Monday the 28th.
