Then why would MPD say "dignitary movement " and nothing from DDOT?
I was a consultant. Youre paid to advance the client's interests. I think he's probably quite skilled.
Its the omission of context that's the blatant dishonesty. City finances - no mention of the commercial vacancy rate, covid era wage increases. Crime - no mention of Covid, policing protests, national trends. Schools - no reference to source of students by housing types data, which is available.
It easy for me to pick apart the opinion piece. I defer to you on water.
So its all dishonest. But that's what we've come to expect from him, and from the paper that publishes him.
The flooding presents no evidence tying floodingto new development which has to be at least stormwater neutral. The crime discussion (and where is the data?) ignores larger national trends. And does he really think new market units drive crime?
Thank you Ryan.

Quickly - the discussion of finances ignores the covid era collapse of the office market - new residential has helped offset that. The school enrollment numbers ignore where those students come from. The traffic claim cites no data.
I hadn't realized how large a role women played in the rails-to-trails movement.
Take a look
Lots of opportunities to advocate for more housing in Alexandria in the next couple weeks.

Here's a little thread, arranged by each action's due date

I'll also quote-skeet the items back onto your feed as their dates approach. 1 person told me those reminders are helpful, now you all suffer 😏
While I support managed lanes in principle, there are many details to be worked out here - transit on the bridge, moving the bottleneck, and support for transportation alternatives. I hope there's a stronger proposal next year.
Mamdani couldn't win a statewide election in Virginia. He'd have difficulty winning an election in our bluer counties. He MAY be the future in NYC (but look at how many bright future mayors of NY flamed out while in office) but not in swing or even light blue states.
We arent talking about Bernie Sanders, of course.
Is that why Bernie lost the primary in 2016? Seems like a lot of the voices against older Dems didn't have that concern then. 🤔
Evidence that's true in the real world, not on social media? Im in Virginia. Our candidate for governor, establishment (though not elderly) is running ahead of her less establishment ticket mates.
I actually dont know how to react. But I bet JUMTOT is having fun.
Blaming yimbyism on Zionism is just multiple layers of antisemitism
Wanting more housing is apparently a thing you can blame on the Jews now.
Let me add that evangelicals dont own the Hebrew scriptures (plus not all Christian evangelicals are politically right wing)
Though like Jews in general part of a people with roots in Judea, which was only beginning to be called "Palestine" when most of us went into exile.
In the 1930s "Palestinian" was a geographic term, not ethnic. Jews who lived in the British Mandate territory of Palestine were Palestinian Jews, as distinct from Palestinian Arabs. Golda Meir used to make that point. Schumer though is an American from Brooklyn.
Wine is traditional. It used to be claimed that's why Jewish men drank less.
E. Pedestrianizing King further will be a challenge, not only because parking, but bus routes. But creating a shared street/woonerf there is an alternative.
D. Transit signal priority, even for non-BRT routes.
Biking of course makes that far easier. The steps you outline to make car free/car lite easier are good ones. Id add - A. Implementing planned BRT lines B. Advancing a connected low stress bike network C. Reducing speed limits on certain arterials where that hasnt happened yet.
