Assuming we move this act of the movie to Jakku, Finn finds Jannah's ex-troopers living in the ruins of the village from TFA. They fled here because word has spread through the ranks of Finn, the stormtrooper who refused to murder innocents and became a hero in the Resistance. He's a folk hero.

I am torn: I like the idea that the Emperor would have taken the Wayfinder to Endor - a little occult nuclear football that followed him everywhere. But I'd also rather have it be on Exegol, in the same Observatory Rax died in. The knife is a key to a vault the New Republic missed.

Rey leaves the Temple to go face Kylo Ren, but her absence allows the Knights of Ren to capture Chewie. Skip the Chewie death fake-out, then have Rey lose control another way. The heroes then face a choice: mount a rescue for Chewie, or race to the Wayfinder. Poe brings them to Kijimi to meet Babu.

I think planet-killing technology has been a Sith goal for a long time. One of the victories of the Death Star project was to prove the technology viable. Miniaturizing it (and maximalizing it, a la Starkiller Base) was the next step.

Headcanon: they've been building the Sith Eternal fleet for generations. This is the secret treasure of the entire legacy of the Sith. The Imperial-class is based on the Xyston-class, not the other way around.

You save a few minutes, some special effects, and a whole lot of nerd angst by cutting from Poe jumping through the ice wall to the Falcon showing up on fire on Ajan Kloss. You don't need lightspeed skipping to explain why the ship is beat up.

Which actually kinda makes the near-instantaneous creation of the Citizen's Fleet better. Thousands of years of planning, and a professional gambler gets everyone in the Galaxy with a gun and like two hours of free time to come smash the Sith utterly.
