The Full Moon is beautiful tonight, seen here over the Space Coast of Florida at 8:46pm (ET) as the International Space Station and its crew of 7 passed overhead.

Traveling @ ~17,500mph, it took less than 3/4 sec for the ISS to transit the face of the Moon.

My thoughts are with the victims of today's UPS plane crash, but they are also with the NTSB investigators who, tomorrow, will dig through half a mile of toxic debris to find the black boxes, all without being paid. Godspeed to them as well.
Thanks for opening that up and posting it again for everyone.

Historical context - In 1979 an AA DC-10 (MD-11 predecessor) crashed on takeoff from ORD. Its left engine separated (due to a maintenance issue) on takeoff causing an asymmetric stall when the slats retracted. (Locks mandated in 1982) TAC report from 2019: theaircurrent.com/historical-c...
Searching for 40-year old lessons for Boeing in the grounding of the DC-10
An eerily similar crash in Chicago 40-years ago holds lessons for Boeing and the 737 Max that reverberate through history.

Yeah I saw that video too. Such a massive fear of a pilot.
Wow this was a bad day for cruise 🚢 stocks. $NCLH leading the decline.
This is my fav time of year at WDW. Christmas is so magical. Cant wait to be there in 2 weeks.
Please keep the 3 crew members and their family and anyone who maybe on the ground in your thoughts tonight.

The Air Current is following the developments out of Louisville where a UPS MD-11 Freighter crashed on takeoff. The flight with three crew aboard was on its way to Honolulu and the airport remains closed at this point.

This looks to be UPS 2976, an MD-11. @flightradar24.com public data picked up a brief altitude value of 175 feet before it dropped back to 0 and the data ends.
Finally decided to get custom made hearing protection. Will use them mostly for airshows & dances. Kinda shocked my hearing is not worse after all those airshows and F-35 back in ‘19 causing so much pain.

Agree. That’s why I never looked for planes. It was still up when I posted this.
Well that did not take long. Was only looking for helicopters when I should’ve the guest been looking for small airplanes as well. Did the Flightradar filter for it and got it this morning.
