We are facing an affordability crisis in our city that is worse than any that we have ever seen before. More people have died outside in the last four years than in any previous term. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Childcare is one of the biggest challenges in our city. I am excited to work with providers, parents, and community organizations to bring down costs and make Seattle a permanent home for families and childcare providers.

I had a great time meeting with childcare providers, learning about the challenges they face and how the city can better support their work!

It was wonderful to meet with Reverend Sekou and Rev. Dr. Spaulding today in Hillman City. The future feels bright!

Robby says:

“I know Katie, and I know she cares about seniors, and I know she cares about equity, and I know she’ll make a wonderful mayor.”

Thank you, Robby!

They have the money, but we have the people! In our second installment of “Voices of Seattle,” we present longtime labor leader and respected community advocate Robby Stern.

Seattle deserves real action, not embellishment. I am running to bring real solutions to our homelessness crisis — not fudge the numbers. #thisisyourcity

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell is seeking reelection partly based on the claim he’s responsible for adding 3,000 emergency housing units. A deeper look reveals that’s an embellishment.

Now is not the time to reelect a mayor who refuses to take responsibility for the failures of his administration. We have lost shelter beds every year of the mayor’s term, and more people are sleeping outside as a result. We are a national outlier on unsheltered homelessness.

Green says: “Growth that forgets its people is not progress. It is hoarding dressed up as success…For the first time in a long while, I see a candidate who carries both moral clarity and practical plans.” Thank you, Cynthia!

We are honored to have your support.

I believe that we can create a city that feels like home to working families, not only people with six figure incomes.

A few days ago, I was fortunate enough to debate the mayor on stage at Pigott Auditorium at Seattle University. Afterwards, it was wonderful to meet so many students who were eager to make positive change in our city.

Hi, this is a great question. While running for mayor, I’ve been focused on what my administration can accomplish to win progressive revenue here in Seattle. As Mayor, I will continue to advocate for statewide progressive revenue alongside Washingtonians and our allied representatives in Olympia.

I believe we can get new revenue and keep world-class employers in Seattle, without layering on more taxes for working people and cutting services we all rely on.

We need new progressive taxes. I support a capital gains tax, and others like the JumpStart Payroll Expense Tax, which I helped design and pass four years ago, and is currently balancing the mayor's budget at city hall.

Lower and middle income households pay an unfair share of the tax burden in Seattle. We have some rebalancing to do. Asking big businesses and wealthy folks to pay their fair share in making this city great is part of that.

Might as well win….well, you know the rest.

Update: Jorge Polanco ALSO deserves free summer childcare!
