Yeah for some reason Pokémon has always attracted the most dedicated gatekeepers.

Many fans have a weirdly restrictive idea of what Pokémon "should be", which runs completely counter to GameFreak's own philosophy of always pushing those boundaries

My thoughts exactly! Instead of the effortless marriage of concept, story and mechanics of the original, Hades II felt like they constantly had to write around the genre conventions

Still great, but definitely left a bit of a weird aftertaste

I've obsessed over Pikachu's inconsistent design for YEARS now, and I feel vindicated that the 3D games will finally reflect Sugimori's art instead of the anime look 🤌
