I have looked for his blog online but it appears to be gone. I think that was the only place his writing ever appeared. He had a radio show at Kootenay Co-op Radio, called Chinese Feed, about China where he had lived, and about the Chinese history of Nelson. Maybe the station has this archived.

“I knew that you had that troll base and I knew that we would get some sort of reaction, but I really did not realize the extent of the volume of that push back that we had.”
As women journalists are relentlessly and disproportionately harassed, it’s fair to ask where are you going with this CTV?

Andrew Lawton at his worst, called the Commemoration of Polytechnique Massacre a " Fake Holiday" promoted by "Feminazis."
Doug Ford had the decency to reject him as a Candidate.

I’d like to announce my forthcoming US history book, covering a decisive but tumultuous era in that country’s history, titled “The trade policies of the United States: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025” It will be 400 pages.
I miss the late Claus Schunke, the man in the green coat. He was a friend of mine and also an unrelenting critic of city council and sometimes of me. You could not escape his tough scrutiny even if he liked you. He had a blog called Nudging the Predictable. Sometimes it was hard work knowing him.
This week, Bill Frisell. Next week, who knows?

My latest story on a complex issue at Nanaimo city council that is being dealt with by the "blunt instrument" of banning all photography, audio and video recording in council meetings — including by journalists.
Civil liberty and journalism experts are concerned that a ban on recording at Nanaimo city council meetings could violate people's Charter right to free expression and a free press.

Musical highlight of the week was NY jazz clarinetist Don Byron, who redefined eclecticism with:
- A 20-minute hard-funk of James Brown's "Soul Power"
- An high-distortion straight take of Nirvana's "In Bloom"
- A Hank Williams yodeling cowboy piece (he sung)
- Angry poetry, trad jazz, acid & more
Prices of groceries and other things will go up in the U.S. and Trump will publicly blame Canada. Wait for it ...

This is my article for the Nelson Star about how the Kootenay Lake ferry strike is causing serious financial and psychological stress for many people on the East Shore. It's about loss of income and work, and also the stress of many layers of uncertainty including strained community relations.
