*at least then, not they

It’s just that over time more and more of them dropped the crypto- part of “crypto-fascist” and then more and more of them started being more Nazi than fascist. And now we see the Politico piece confirm what we’ve known.

This reminds me of the Vidal / Buckley moment where Buckley got incensed at being called a crypto Nazi, and Vidal (iirc) later clarified he meant to say crypto fascist.

Because at least they, Republicans kept this fashy thoughts secret and they certainly didn’t enjoy the Nazi allegations.

To call these weasel words would be an insult to mustelids

Temporal Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time. They “disappeared” my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Really weird! #StarTrek #Sisko197

What are the chances that they start including physical copies of WaPo with Amazon deliveries like an unwanted U2 album on iTunes?

RIP D’Angelo

I could say “middle schoolers would call each other on their home landlines to say this music video was on MTV” but I don’t think they would understand the words.

"Sapiens" is so normal for the first 70,000 years of human history but then goes absolutely buckwild as soon as it gets to colonialism
Had the Aztecs and Incas shown a bit more interest in the world surrounding them - and had they known what the Spaniards had done to their neighbours - they might have resisted the Spanish conquest more keenly and successfully.

2/ Democrats aren't going to vote for a budget that throws millions off health care and funds Trump's growing totalitarianism. At least I'm not.

Why work so hard to get to the Senate if you don't use your power to fight for what you believe in? Especially at a time like this.

I don’t exactly know why people fail to develop the vocabulary to be deeper and more complex readers, but there is definitely a feedback loop here - when you teach someone the vocabulary it often is enough to get them to read more and more complex texts. But someone usually has to start them.

There are a lot of surface-level readers out there who are very capable of feelings that approximate deeper reading (comparisons between works, understanding themes, foreshadowing, the broader significance of textual references), but they never learn how to articulate those feelings into words.

Like, look at this. Each point scoring or losing play can be reacted to or commented on, and people do.

This can’t possibly be good for us as a society.

I still found a use for them, but…every time I use one I get a little sheepish

Who the hell has time to laugh react on a fantasy site’s screen within a screen within a screen, and then reply to someone else’s comment, when Bijan Robinson gains two yards?

Are these real people?
