A few words about who you just followed:

Since 2014, I've been a co-host on the Wanderers in the 4th Dimension podcast. We've covered every #DoctorWho TV story to date + many #BigFinish stories.

I also like to muck about w/Photoshop.
Here are a few of my many meme creations:

Depicted is my take on the "Distracted Boyfriend" meme. My version is Doctor Who-themed and features Ruby Sunday casting an approvingly judgmental gaze at a Distracted Doctor, who in turn is eying a Rogue bounty hunter. (Note: created via old-school Photoshop techniques).

Depicted is a meme I created a while back that I call "The Spocketeer". As one my surmise by the title it's a parody of "The Rocketeer" movie poster. In lieu of the Rocketeer cast, my version features Star Trek's Spock & T'Pring, as well as an evil Mirror Spock. (Note: created via old-school Photoshop techniques).

Depicted is a meme I made last year that I originally uploaded to Facebook & tumblr. accounts. It was shared extensively on those sites. The graphic shows Kirk & Spock recreating Spock's altruistic sacrifice from Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan, only they're separated by one of those cardboard Barbie photo-op booths that popped up at various theaters last year. In case anyone is wondering, the image is actually a picture of an AMC theater complex in San Francisco, California and the image of Spock and Kirk is a Hallmark ornament that's been pasted into the photo. Originally, there were people in the picture too, but I digitally removed them (in retrospect, I wish I had done a better job on that edit, as one of the top steps isn't very level).

Prior to attending that '97 convention, I purchased a Brandon Choi signed Gen ⑬ variant covers box set from a comic book seller who frequented a local flea market. Blank cover variants were still relatively novel back then, so I decided to bring mine along to the con in hopes of procuring a sketch.

She's sportin' a necklace with the letter "F" (for "Freefall" or perhaps for "Francine" - or maybe even both). I acquired the Terry Moore sketch at a Bay Area convention in 1997. Fast forward to 2008 when Brian & Kristy Miller released a colorist tutorial book titled "Hi-Fi Color For Comics: Digital Techniques for Professional Results". Included with the book was a CD containing sample Photoshop files, various exercises, and even an automated Photoshop script for isolating line work to a separate Photoshop layer (note: the included script is only compatible with older versions of Photoshop - i.e. prior to Adobe switching to a subscription-based model). Back then, Brian would routinely partake in a colorist forum on the Comic Geek Speak forum < @comicgeekspeak.bsky.social > and give feedback to those attempting the book's various exercises. In addition to the book's sample exercises, sometimes forum members would post their own challenges. While attending another con, I asked Terry if it would be okay if I uploaded this cover he sketched for me over a decade earlier to that CGS forum's colorist thread as a new challenge. Terry said sure, but he insisted on making a few additional tweaks to the sketch beforehand (which he did). Alas, the Comic Geek Speak forum that once hosted that colorist group has long since gone the way of the dodo and with it went all the uploaded attempts at colorizing it. Though, I still own the original book.

There’s been a lot of well-deserved appreciation for Drew Struzan’s iconic theatrical art, but I’d like to also celebrate the art he did for @carolekingofficial.bsky.social’s 1973 album FANTASY. It has such a sublime warmth and personality to it, and it’s the perfect gateway to a great album.

I'm trying out a new extension for the Firefox browser that's designed to block Google's AI-generated search results. So far, it seems to working as advertised. Though, occasionally AI results flash briefly, only to immediately disappear. If anyone has other suggestions I'm all ears.

For those of you who reside in the U.S. (possibly other countries as well, as content varies by region), the 2012 documentary "Drew: The Man Behind the Poster" is available to stream on Kanopy, which is a free-to-use streaming service offered by many public & academic libraries.

Drew used layers to create several variations of his Goonies poster art for use in newspaper ads. That way the various characters would have their respective turns in the spotlight.

Having performed a clean Win10 install, I'm going to make a concerted effort to keep my laptop more organized. My desktop clutter is in the form of folders (well organized, but still a bunch of folders). This hack to make folders pinnable to the taskbar is a godsend.

As I continue my clean install of Win10 & all my frequently used apps, I'm blown away by how much time I'm spending disabling unsolicited "features" & other such fluff apps insist on inundating users with. When I launched Acrobat, I was like WTF is this?

Prior to reformatting the drives & performing a clean install of Windows 10, both of my laptop's internal drives were nearly at capacity. It's amazing how much more responsive my laptop is now that it's refreshed and has ample storage available.

After tweaking what seemed like a zillion settings (mostly disabling Win10 annoyances (unsolicited tips, crap on my lock screen, & other embuggerances), I'm now reinstalling essential apps (VLC, LibreOffice, Photoshop, alternative web browsers etc…). Glad I had the foresight to export my bookmarks.

Heeding my own advice, yesterday (i.e. prior to Windows 10's retirement on October 14th) I created a Windows 10 recovery USB drive and proceeded to perform a clean install of Windows 10 (I backed up my laptop's two internal drives earlier in the week).

#Windows10 support officially ends on Oct. 14th.
If you still use Win10, I suggest creating a Windows 10 recovery USB drive while Microsoft still presents users with that option. This link is for a creating a clean Win10 installer.

After 55 years, today is the last show. Every Sunday night as a young teen, I'd lay in bed and put my headphones on and make it to the Funny Five every week. Mondays sure would suck harder because of it, but hot damn was it worth it.

I see "Dr. Who and the Daleks" (1965), as well as "Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D." (1966) were recently added to the public/academic library streaming service Kanopy.

I reside in the U.S., so I don't know if this is also true of Kanopy in Australia or Canada, as content tends to vary by region.

$26.99 isn't a bad price for the lot, but I paid less than $20 for each of the site's other Doctor collections. I'm sure 13's will go on sale in due time. I hope to eventually own digital download editions of all modern era stories, as some of my physical media is exhibiting signs of deterioration.

The 13ᵗʰ Doctor's full-length debut episode premiered on Oct. 7ᵗʰ, 2018. I was hoping the U.S.-based digital content provider Fandango at Home (formerly Vudu) might commemorate the anniversary with a sale on its Jodie Whittaker Collection.
