They perpetuate illness and dependency to ensure health insurance companies and their CEOs maintain and grow their wealth.

We require a healthcare system that prioritizes the public's health, and we demand politicians who represent our intereats and actively work to improve our lives.

This is compelling evidence: the obstacles to national universal healthcare are corporate money and greed.

The issue is not a lack of funding, nor is it the efficacy of a national single-payer system.

This current system was built by corporate interests to extract profit from our suffering 🧵

OBAMA: “Better’s good… we’re not gonna get to perfect. Do I think single-payer with no profit motive would’ve been smarter? Absolutely.”

President Obama tells Maron the ACA was a compromise because he didn’t have the votes for what he really wanted. #MedicareForAll

Another reminder that the whole thing is about making money at the expense of the patient's well-being and financial stability.

In short, they make money off your SUFFERING.

For profit healthcare keeps only one thing healthy: profits.

The US lacks the substantial social safety nets common in the developed world.

Other nations support their citizens with programs like national healthcare, pensions, free school meals, free or subsidized higher education, and accessible childcare, a list of benefits American taxpayers rarely see.

Unsure how many times I have to repeat it, but health care shouldn’t be for-profit.

We would have more successful small businesses and flourishing artists, as people would be free to pursue their passions.

if healthcare was not tied to employment in the USA what would you be doing differently in your career?
wholewashington.org
The time is now.

We need a healthcare system that serves us, the American taxpayers. Not the oligarchs, the top 1%, and those who benefit from defending them.

Universal, single-payer healthcare for all.

Our job is not to throw 15 million people off health care and double insurance premiums for more than 20 million.

Our job is not to shutter community health centers, nursing homes and rural hospitals.

Our job is to fix a broken system and guarantee health care to all.

Can't wait to sign up for Medicare for Y'all!
senchrislarson.bsky.social
Ok, hear me out - what if we called it “Medicare for Y’all” and just covered everybody? Shutdown solved!
wholewashington.org
Let's get rid of the middleman and make healthcare accessible to every American.

You pay taxes for the system—you deserve to have access and benefit from it.
merri24.bsky.social
Please make a distinction between health insurance and healthcare. They are not the same thing!

It would be far cheaper for the United States to expand Medicare to cover everyone.

Insurance is a middleman that decides whether you live or die.

Yes, this seems like an appropriate moment to push for universal, single-payer healthcare. Right? @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social

Saying it loud for the people in the back,

"we should be guranteeing HEALTH CARE TO ALL AMERICANS AS A HUMAN RIGHT."
sanders.senate.gov
At a time when we should be guaranteeing health care to all Americans as a human right, President Trump and his Republican colleagues are threatening to make our broken system even worse by doubling premiums for more than 20 million Americans.

Universal healthcare is not an expense, but an essential investment.

A healthier population fuels ambition and motivation to contribute to society. That vital spark disappears when your people are sick and struggling.

WEST VIRGINIAN: “If the subsidies go away I won’t have health insurance. I won’t go to the doctor. This really is a life or death situation.” #TrumpShutdown #TrumpHealthCareTax

(This shutdown is making the case for #MedicareForAll better than we ever could)

Why do we pay so much for "just in case," and when that unfortunate event happens, we don't get the service we paid so much for over so many years?
wholewashington.org
What is so difficult to understand is why Americans have to plead to stay alive.

Why do we need a non-medical organization's approval to access the care medical professionals deem necessary? 🧵
wholewashington.org
Yep, those of us who've lived abroad are well aware of what Americans are missing out on at home.

We were all given a price tag so they could monetize our illness.

Deaths are higher in emergency rooms of hospitals owned by private equity firms, per Harvard University.

They did the math: It’s cheaper to let someone die than save them with a procedure they can’t afford.

This is what happens when its profits over people.

The right to a healthy life and accessible healthcare should not depend on your financial status.

Rep. DeLauro: Access to quality, affordable health care is one of the most basic necessities for modern society. You can't force people to choose between paying for their kids' medication or putting food on the table or paying their rent. @delauro.house.gov

Real freedom means your worth is independent of your societal contribution. It exists when no economic barriers prevent you from living the life you desire.

Whether you like it or not, this is our painful truth in America.

Even $500/month is too much, especially considering we already pay taxes.

We need universal, single-payer healthcare. We demand a system that is worthy of our hard-earned wages and taxes.
wholewashington.org
@sanders.senate.gov has been fighting for "healthcare for all" for so long, and yet here we are, still debating whether folks should go bankrupt for a broken arm.

Sanders: I am not a great fan of the affordable care act. I believe in medicare for all. I think that health care is a human right, but I will be damned if I'm going to see people in Vermont and around this country see a doubling in their premiums.

Seriously, that's the core single-payer argument: we already spend enough.

If we just cut out the massive insurance overhead and profit, we could afford world-class universal healthcare.

If the US spent what it pays for Health Insurance on actual Healthcare, it could have world class Universal Healthcare.

There are no winners here, only losers. If only we had a single-payer system instead of relying on useless middlemen, this would not even be a thing.
