It's Mike. I wish I only talked about tabletop games, writing, and comic books (and tea), but politics keep happening. I like He/Him, and I like She/Her, and I don't like Twitter anymore.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked,

dragging themselves through the Bluesky Poasts at dawn looking for an angry fix

I JUST WANT TO TALK ABOUT THINGS I LIKE, WHAT THE FUCK
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
I almost just commented on a Facebook screenshot of a Tweet from a minor internet personality whom I hate but know too much about and it was regarding him possibly trolling a weird cross-section of culture war, and I have GOT TO GO TO BED
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
Yeah, like, your normie boss/cousin/neighbor who likes you but hates taxes will never ever *not* join a fiscally conservative party. And we have to live with that person. And the that person's ilk need to supplant the insane bigots who guide conservatism.

I'm getting increasingly wary of how people are just hearing what they expect to hear instead of what people say.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
It can be, maybe, if the thrust were, "You should dump coffee," but I don't read that in there anywhere.

It might be me! I've definitely suggested lifestyle changes that got me cross looks, but I just don't read that into these words. I worry people are looking for a fight and seeing it anywhere.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
Y'know, I genuinely don't find *anything* wrong with suggesting substitutes for things people like, but idk. Maybe it's uncouth.

It is corny how they reduced nutritional value to "calories," though. Coffee has fiber, for one thing.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
You absolutely do not have to hand it to The Atlantic, but when I read words and then I'm told they don't say the thing I just read, I have questions.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
So I can't read this without a subscription, but is it actually even trashing coffee like the comments keep accusing it of? All I see is "People like coffee and it's important but now it's expensive," not "Fuck coffee and fuck you."

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills???

Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

🎶 BUT ANYONE WHO EVER HAD A HEART
OH, THEY WOULDN'T TURN AROUND AND BREAK IT 🎶

🎶 And there's even some evil mothers
Well, they're gonna tell you that everything is just dirt 🎶

(they're on social media)
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
Well maybe, but if that were true, they'd celebrate just getting someone they like into a primary. Because then they'd think their candidate will obviously beat anyone. That:s where the logic would follow. So this is just nonsensical.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
A number of people who are unpopular in their own social circle seem very certain they know what's popular on a national stage. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
People must not have the courage of their own convictions or something, if they think they're fated to be unpopular. That sucks. Feel better, I guess.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
I guess they must see as their goal to usurp the Democratic Party candidates and force a possible plurality of voters who don't think the way they do to capitulate.

That's weird and undemocratic, so I'm not about that.
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
I think I finally get it.

People who don't trust democratic primaries think that democratic voters are idiots and will not vote for their "obviously better choice."

I don't know why I never thought of this.

Irredeemable freak behavior from that entire family

Not that I ever got to work from home, but Return to Office was a mistake

I told someone four times in a row that something from the printer, with my name on it, it was for me, and then they said "Must be for [someone else]" and took it away.

How's your day going
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
Yeah like I'm sorry no one's providing cover for ur suicide mission dawg, guess you gotta keep posting (?) (???)
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
I don't know what the fuck is going on here anymore, now that I deleted the app

That's so fucking cool
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
It's like the entire site is having a competition to create the largest dichotomy between how serious they claim to be and the content of their posts.

He's not even like "Get high and make fun of this" level -- it's all basically unwatchable, yeah 😬

Unfortunately, my brief exposure to the worst parts of Internet culture in that era made me *very* aware of Uwe Boll
whatthelightcando.bsky.social
Ideally, yeah, but people don't really do that. I mostly only know my partner's number because of things we're signed up for/to, but I think I've forgotten all the others that are current.
