When Futurama put out that episode, years ago, about how incels are obsessed with exploiting Marilyn Monroe even long after she’s dead, I didn’t realise how painfully on the nose they were being. ☹️

But what if… White Wolf still made all the same bad decisions while TSR was left to languish and die?
Would the backyard indies have come out at the top of the pack? Would the entire hobby have faded into memory? 🤔🤔

I’d say Call of Cthulhu could serve nicely.
Personally, all it took was for me to try ONE game that wasn’t D&D before my mind exploded and I began tumbling down the infinite rabbit hole of ‘what RPGs can be’.

I realised I have similar instincts when I was running a 5e game for kids and decided on the fly that a monster they were fighting could cast a spell to chop the DMPC up into little meat cubes and sear them medium rare 😬😬

My partner keeps telling me that enemies in my game’s combat phase should have a static number of turns that they all have to share. One character has more turns if its allies start dying (initiative is like in TROIKA!).
