i just hope trump's obvious preoccupation with the afterlife means he's extremely scared and upset and feels bad and afraid all the time. i hope his life is horrible, every waking moment filled with creeping dread

That's so out of line it's not even funny. If I didn't have the encouragement of family and friends I would not still be writing today. And believe me, my first stories were faaaaaaar from good.

Once, completely exasperated, I said "Who do I have to fuck around here to get a response?" I had an acceptance letter a few days later. Sadly, that tactic only worked that one time.

For me, it was wait times a month or (much) more. An empty mailbox was not a happy sight. Before that, though, was typing the manuscript, taking it to the copy place, and always having manila envelopes and postage on hand.

We went to Costco today for three huge bags of Halloween candy (we get a lot of kids). Naturally, when I saw the bag of Annie's Organic Extruded Crunchy Cheese Product (their version of Cheetos), I could not resist. Two thumbs up. Will not buy again.
