October 14:
She dashed off, and I commenced pulling the officer along, his ruined face toward a clouded sky. All afternoon, I dragged and rested, hiding him twice, once when people were about, another time to return home and make my rounds.

Merit has little to do with why books go out of print and writers get forgotten. Every reader has the capacity to become a champion and help enrich the canon.

October 13:
Jack, being a gentleman, responded in his usual soft, courteous tone. The vicar began to shout about Creatures of the Night and Unholy Practices and Living Blasphemies and Things Like That.
"You gave it sanctuary," I heard him cry. "I'm coming after it."

It’s impossible to overstate how much “abolish ice” is the normie position now here in chicago — just countless random moms at toddler soccer on a park district field asking me where I bought my anti-ice t-shirt. average people don’t like our neighborhoods being terrorized.

A friend ran the Chicago marathon today and said he couldn’t count the number of FUCK ICE signs along the way.

I took Jack his slippers this evening and lay at his feet before a roaring fire while he smoked his pipe, sipped sherry, and read the newspaper. He read aloud everything involving killings, arsons, mutilations, grave robberies, church desecrations, and unusual thefts.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to take it out on you personally but I love Chicago so fucking much. If YOU don't live in an area being targeted for racist violence because of Trump's grudges, please back off.

They also affect my neighbors who are more vulnerable (Latina/o, working class). My city - my neighbors, my people - are being affected in ways they never were before. That's just a fact. It's not only about me, it's about the whole fabric of the culture

You assumed Trump's policies have not affected me directly. You're wrong. They have

This might be the most horrifying space news I've ever seen. Like, it feels so viscerally wrong I'm struggling to even put it into words. No one should have the ability to take the stars away from other people on purpose.

Cant believe this administration is unpopular

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.

It is a VERY bad system, you're not wrong there!

I know I said I'd back off, but do not make assumptions about my life experiences and naivete please.

I'm 56 years old, I'm low-income, I'm mixed-ethnic, I went for years without health insurance before ACA, and people I know are having friends and co-workers getting yanked off the streets in my city.

This is really really bad in ways they were not before in my lifetime.

Who was President on January 6?
Donald J. Trump * © @reaDonaldTrump • 1m
THE BIDEN FBI PLACED 274 AGENTS INTO THE CROWD ON JANUARY 6. If this is so, which it is, a lot of very good people will be owed big apologies. What a SCAM - DO SOMETHING!!! President DJT

3 million sounds like an incredibly high number that I'm skeptical of, but yes, I know he is awful too. Not playing the gatcha game. Not saying Democrats are great, I don't stan any of them either. All I'm saying is that voting is easy and free and you should pick the least worst.

There's a good movie about it made years later by a Black woman filmmaker, you should watch it

Do you know that in the 1980s, Trump took out an ad in the New York Times calling for the execution of Black teens accused of a crime they did not commit?
vulgarweed.bsky.social
Is that seriously what you think I'm doing? Seriously?
vulgarweed.bsky.social
Everyone who lived through the first Trump term knew he was way more vicious and racist? It wasn't that long ago!
vulgarweed.bsky.social
It is awesome - with paid time off to do it.
vulgarweed.bsky.social
That's probably true and I'm sorry for that. I'm seeing the city I love suffering directly because of Trump's goons so it's personal for me. I'm going to back off now.

Voting for the least worst is harm reduction.
vulgarweed.bsky.social
Voting for me is easy and free. Costs nothing but a little bit of time. I've never not done it. It is by NO MEANS the be-all end all of my activism. In fact, it's by far the easiest and emotionally cheapest.

I know there are already people who are dead who would still be alive if Trump had lost. One life is enough for me to take an hour out of one day every few years and vote for the lesser of two evils. The lesser of two evils, is still evil - but LESS evil, and that is a real difference.
