Has it though? It doesn't feel like there is any real change in substantive policy, just an attempt to deflect blame for the budget on the tories and farage.
This is so parasitic. You may come here and work and pay tax but if you dare ask for anything in return, you must leave.

How long before they ban them from using the NHS, or sending their children to state schools?

I just cannot take this shit seriously. If you're a senior Labour figure and think that the party's stance is cowardly but are too afraid to put your name on the record saying it YOU ARE A COWARD.
Senior Labour figures have expressed dismay at the Party's "cowardly" and "incompetent" response to Tory shadow minister Katie Lam calling for legal migrants to "go home".

"What’s the point of us saying we’re anti-racist when we fail to call out racism," said one MP.

Can't use that cheat code twice in a row!
He is worth hundreds of millions, do you really think he has taken this column for the money?

I think he is seeking to influence the Conservative party. Hopefully in pursuit of bringing it back towards the centre post Kemi.
Maybe not steering but perhaps placing inflatable barriers along the route.
I'm beginning to wonder whether Rubio is subtly steering the ship and trying to limit the number of icebergs the SS Trump careers into.
Many of this Governments problems stem from using pre-existing public opinion as an excuse for presenting views that they don't really agree.

This is why they struggle to back many of their polices when questioned. Look to Ed Miliband for an example of a politician who believes in his brief.
He was only there to water the plinth under Churchill.
Well, its not as if the EU is in an extremely strong position is it? Sensible direction from the commission on national leaders can overcome any intransigence in the EU machine.

Not long ago many commentators were talking about the EU relaxing its views towards doing deals with the UK post Trump.
Looking at it, the image in the second photo was taken a second or two later than the one posted to twitter as a few of the people are in slightly different positions.

Amazing hacker being able to find a second photo on Mike's phone taken straight after the first.

If Labour cannot denounce mass deportation of permanent residents, Idi Amin style, what is the point of them?

Weak as water, I don’t see any difference between News & Current Affairs when the latter is often just a deeper dive on something reported in the former. @ofcom.bsky.social failing to adapt to the broadcast landscape.
Ah yes, because that sort of idea won't be pounced upon by Putin to undermine EU integration.

"Hey Moldova, don't bother joining the EU, they will treat you like a second class country"

So, another week when we'll continue to ignore the increasingly obvious issue of political radicalisation via social media? And indeed the tied issue of the large tech companies who promote this, and the tech bros who see this as some sort of move to a utopian paradise governed by them?
Yes, hence my caveat re those considering doing it.

There will be many who can afford that but just haven't done so because they didn't feel it necessary. Now's the time to do it, get a vote and help us all stop the racist and anti immigrant policies.
I would love to see polling on how many people on ILR or SS just hadn't gotten round to it or didn't feel it necessary previously.

There's about 7-8 million of them combined. That is a huge number of people living here without a say on how the country is run. I'd like to see that change.
I get all of that.

I'm just stating that launching this policy so early gives a significant number of people, who can afford it, who don't have dual citizenship concerns, and had previously thought ILR etc was enough, the nudge required to get citizenship and enable them to vote for better.
The idiocy of this policy being announced 4 years from an election is it gives all those people on ILR, or with Settled Status, that were considering it the nudge they might have needed to apply for citizenship and giving them the right to vote.

Good opportunity for pro immigration parties...

With the US government now joining bluesky, does the UK government have any excuses not to?

And also, why isn't BBC news on here properly?
And now there are very few sensible people left to remind them of the boundaries of civil discourse.

The Tory media's shift from hysterically claiming that Starmer *did* intervene in the China spy case to hysterically claiming that Starmer *should* have intervened in the China spy case is a thing to behold.
