*waves* hi, my family benefits from free school lunches and we've been through the wringer w/ the marketplace and employment based health insurance. And don't get me started on rent increases. The political is personal and it's time to get involved. Being "non political" won't work this time

If you have concerns about #SNAP benefits being cut for the most vulnerable I suggest you donate MONEY to your local food bank. They don't need cans of pumpkin, they need financial resources to get fresh food. Please donate. Oh, and also don't vote for assholes #foodbanks #SNAP #shutdown

There's no safety net for low income seniors. I hate to break it to you. More older adults live in poverty than you would care to know, and no Medicare doesn't cover everything. Hardly. So many people are spending their "golden years" just scraping by #retirement #SNAP #socialsecurity #Medicare

Imagine being in your 80's and you worked your whole life earning minimum wage or less so you have no retirement and rely on social security to live and you only have food because you get SNAP. And the government basically says fuck you, you don't deserve food #SNAP #shutdown #government

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

I am always shocked when I hear people with privilege make comments that folks who are low income must be miserable. Like, oh poor them. It's dehumanizing. People, all people, are complex. Strengths and struggles. Resilience and vulnerability. How is this not clear?
