Can’t believe Lib Dem Conference was already a week ago!

Here’s a quick look at what I packed into an incredible (and very long!) weekend.
Agreed. some people find it hard to see any light & I am determined to do what I can in support
Yesterday a friend of mine died following an overdose. She had been in a dark place & I don’t yet know if she meant to take her life, if she did she will be one of 17 who die by suicide each day 💜

I visited Speak Their Name quilt exhibition in Parliament & will work to support suicide prevention

Thanks to the Minister for referring back to Taylor in their summing up.
“Thanks for sharing Taylor's moving story, and I am pleased he is now thriving.”
My first speech back in Parliament was on the SEND crisis.
I shared the stories of Kaisey & Taylor, showing how early support can transform lives
I also called for an end to repeated GCSE retakes, which cause unnecessary stress for some young people
SEND is in crisis; I will keep fighting to fix it
It was humbling to meet & talk to the Ukrainian Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk during his visit to Westminster
He epitomises the courage & resilience of the people of Ukraine.
I welcome the announcement today of additional sanctions on Russia and the UKs renewed commitment to peace in Europe 🇺🇦
It was great that the Mental Health Act passed report stage and third reading and that commitments were given on including the amendments we wanted in the guidance 🤞
I attended the Children’s Commissioner’s drop-in on the Mental Health Bill which is being debated today
I met Dr Szymankiewicz, whose daughter Ruth tragically died while being treated far from home
I’ve signed amendments to ensure children get the right care, close to family, when they need it most
Szymankiewicz left, Vikki Centre and Monica Harding MP right all smiling.
‼️ After several constituents contacted me about being unable to access the Local Plan consultation, I raised the issue with the council.
I’m pleased to say the problem has been fixed and the deadline has been extended to 31 October.
If you want to have your say, please do take part👇

We will be pushing this to a vote and hope to secure more signatures as it does not come for debate in committee for some time. Please ask your local MP to support
I’m delighted that after years of Liberal Democrat campaigning, the Government has finally agreed to make military family housing legally subject to the Decent Homes Standard for the first time.
It’s a scandal that service families have had to live in mouldy, damp and overcrowded homes for so long.

Love to anyone for whom today is a celebration, an opportunity, or you’re still waiting for the right time to live your life as you want. Take your time. We’ll be here for you when it’s right for you.
WHETHER YOU CAME OUT TODAY, YESTERDAY, OR STILL NEED SOME TIME, WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR YOU, WE CELEBRATE YOU, WE'RE PROUD OF YOU, AND WE LOVE YOU.
We used to take each room in a gallery and pick our favourite picture. Helps to break down the overwhelming scale of somewhere like the Tate Modern and gives everyone a different perspective
Finally … the truth is out. Brexit so badly harmed our economy, and our place in the world I just hope this is a sign they will follow up with real action to improve things
You can’t ignore reality for ever…
This strikes me as a pretty major Brexit shift from Starmer.

Perhaps the beginning of 'Brexit is sh1t and has caused real economic damage'.
Great to hop aboard the Citizens Advice Bus and meet the dedicated team.
The bus travels around East Dorset and Purbeck with advisers doing incredible work helping with free advice on issues like debt, housing, employment and benefits.

Lovely to spend the evening listening to @anjanakhatwa.bsky.social talking about her incredible book The Whispers of Rocks which is reviewed by @newscientist.com

Timely to do this having spent this afternoon at Planet Wimborne Green Festival
Anjana & Cllr Duncan Sowry-House at Corfe Mullen Village Hall talking about the book The book cover of Whispers of Rock

I visited Corfe Mullen Food Bank to meet the amazing volunteers and discuss how I can support their vital work.
Food banks should not be needed in the UK, yet they remain a lifeline for too many families.
If you need help, want to donate, or learn more, please visit their website 👉 buff.ly/ANWnq4E

On World Mental Health Day, it’s vital we break the stigma and keep the conversation going. Support is out there but knowing where to start can be hard.
Charities like Mind offer excellent advice and guidance for anyone struggling.

All are welcome to the memorial for my friend and mentor, Annette Brooke, former Lib Dem MP for Mid Dorset & North Poole, this Friday 10 Oct, 2pm at Wimborne Minster.
A pioneering MP and tireless community champion, please join us to celebrate her remarkable life.
Vikki with Annette, both smiling
This speech is bizarre - does Kemi not realise who’s been in power for the last 14 years I mean all the things she claims he’s gonna do the tour had the chance to do all of them!
Two years ago today, the tranquility of life on Kibbutz, and the joy of a music festival in Israel were shattered by the horrifying attacks by Hamas.

My statement on the anniversary of October 7th.
I agree. As an MP I have done everything in my power questions writing letters attending events, meeting ambassadors meeting hostage families but I get “that’s just words what are you DOING”. UK govt has moved & acted as result of all these things & we are getting closer to peace. Good on Greta & co
