Took a little time out today to walk my garden and look for things coming back to life and blooming.

I love how the edges of this hellebore flower are a hot pink against the otherwise white of the rest of the flower. This is a double with very ruffled edge inner petals. In the background against the soil are Douglas fir pine cones and pine needles

I plopped this iris into a large planter years ago. It and others come back year after year. The contrast between the yellow and purple is striking.

PS I still see the Banksia men in those plants. I used to pick them and show my students who were newcomers to Australia + the Mae Gibbs illustrations. Now they get to do online self teaching courses with no humans who care.
