This is such an important case. But it's disappointing that it takes brave citizens, and not regulators, to take action and hold companies to account.

This week, we are sending back to @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu and the Commission the 4th most exported banned substance from 🇪🇺 to the rest of the world: Picoxystrobin.
Banned in 2017, very toxic fungicide w/ severe ecotoxical effects on ecosystems, risks for consumers as its residues can be genotoxic

Today is #WorldFoodDay ! It happens that EU bans toxic pesticides... but then still exports them to all corners of the world. And that is ⤴️ ever more: 120.000 tons in 2024, so we decided to send them back to the Commission. They have been waiting 5 years to act & stop this unethical double standard!

Fertilizers poison our bodies, water, and air.
They are linked to cancer, birth defects, and respiratory illness.

Denmark has banned 8 more #pesticides containing #PFAS

The main reason: these pesticides can break down into #TFA a small chain PFAS scientists are increasingly concerned about.

Fidra research earlier this year found #TFA widespread in UK rivers 💧

Important thread.

Makes the case for a comprehensive ban on #PFAS, but for that to happen, EU decision-makers will need to stand up to the corporate lobby which wants to delay, dilute, and derail the ban.
