i think there's a time and place to record and remember and represent the queer struggle and what it means to be gay or trans in a world not built for you, but if you're going to put weird discriminatory socioeconomic dynamics in ur book, at least do it well

why do queer characters have to be QUEER as a character trait? why cant they just run around, do terrible awesome shit, and ALSO fall in love? the best queer fantasy lit i've read is when the struggle to find love isn't bc of their queerness, it's because they're a fleshed out person with flaws
