But not everything is going according to plan. Between magick not being accessible to them and their animal familiars on most every planet they visit, some of them getting scattered through a malfunctioning portal, and oh, yeah — Ash (the questionably-aligned, heartbreaking heartthrob) now working with the enemy, things are far from easy.
As they journey through volcanic wastelands, singing crystal caves, and hostile territories full of secrets, Veyla discovers hidden knowledge encoded in her DNA while simultaneously working to contain the feelings she’s hoped to keep buried.
There are new allies, risky detours, and absolutely no time for emotional processing. Especially not during the Solstice Starlight Ball, where truths glitter just beneath the surface, and a couple songs and a single dance might just unravel everything.
Amid the chaos, Veyla still has a job to do: recover the remaining AI cores before AION purges Elysia of all sentient life. The final stop on their mission? Naturally, it’s Ash’s homeworld.

She looked almost… happy there, or at least not possessed by her usual scowl, and Askaly wondered what song had the power to transport the sullen cryomancer to another dimension.

Her next words are smaller and brittle enough to break. “Sometimes, I wonder what’s real and what isn’t.”
That lands harder than any fury. Harder than a blade to the gut. And stars, it wrecks me.
“Of course I care,” I blurt roughly, and it feels like I have to get it out before the universe takes the chance away. “Of course I do.” My voice catches, the traitorous thing. “But what was I supposed to do, V? Sit around and enjoy myself in paradise while ignoring the endless hardships on my homeworld? While my people bled and starved? While my planet fell apart?” I swallow hard. “I had to act. Doing nothing would have driven me insane by guilt.”
“Well, aren't you just the hero?” she accuses, bridging the distance between us with a glare that could burn holes through me. “You think you know what’s best. What’s right. Do you even realize how arrogant that is?”
The tension between us tightens like a cord about to snap. “And you don’t!?” I fire back in disbelief. “You said it yourself: you’re the Star*Relic. The galaxy's chosen one. You’ve got your shiny destiny and cosmic birthright. Your sacred mission. You can't pretend you don’t know what it’s like to be the one calling the shots for everyone else. Don’t stand there and lecture me about arrogance when your whole existence is centered around your hero complex.”
Her jaw clenches, and for a moment, I brace for a slap. Instead, her voice drops, low and dangerous, venom dripping from every word. “You think I asked for this? To be a clone of some dead race with a messiah complex baked into my bones? Well, I didn't, but I am doing the best that I can with what I have to work with. You think this,” she gestures to herself, gaze honed to a blade, “is about power? About being better than everyone else? Superiority? You're wrong. It’s about doing what’s right, even when it’s hard, even when it means sacrificing what you want for the greater good.”

The steady drone of machinery surrounds me as I take in the rest of the space. Clusters of holographic displays hover sporadically, many looping symbols and shapes I don’t understand. Others show fragments of schematics, extraterrestrial glyphs, strange maps labeled in a language I can’t begin to decode, and blueprints laced with circuitry, neural grafts, synthetic organs, or cybernetic overlays. Wires snake across the floor, glowing with the same light as the walls, feeding into the pods and disappearing beneath their sleek surfaces.
My gaze is pulled upward.
The ceiling is a network of filaments that resemble strands of a spider’s web, all converging on a crystalline core suspended in the air and beating with its own light.
I have no idea what anything in this room is ultimately for, but every part of it screams that I don’t belong here. It wasn’t built for someone like me.

PITCH:
Tai’s terrified of humans. Everyone is. Violent pack hunters, humans are notorious for their strength, sharp teeth, and carnivorous appetites. But the ship’s cook is safe among the multispecies crew of the cargo hauler Coreward Baker: everyone knows the warrior species rarely leave their own space. Then Captain Raz hires Clarke, a human horticulturist.
Even after Tai overcomes their fear, they can’t stand Clarke. She’s bossy. Annoying. Useless in the galley, bad in a space suit. She might as well be cargo. Worse, she’s intent on befriending Tai—and why can’t they stop thinking about her, anyway?
That’s when things go wrong. As Tai starts to realize their feelings for Clarke, they’re horrified to learn that nobody on their crew of dropouts and runaways is quite who they seem, least of all Clarke. And it’s no coincidence. Raz reveals they’ve each been handpicked for a heist he’s spent years planning—and no one’s allowed to say no.

It. I frowned. I knew the workers’ language distinguished between people and things, and ‘it’ was an unkind choice of words at best.
The second worker shuddered. “I don’t know why we let themcome here.”
The first laughed. “Are you going to stop them?”

I won’t flinch. I won’t look away from the dark corners she’s too afraid to show. Those shadows she keeps around for cover? I’ll chase every one of them away until all that’s left is us. I’ll pull her into the sun alongside me, so that we may bask in the light of day together, naked and exposed, beautiful even with all our scars and imperfections. Still worthy of being seen. I can't find it. Panic seizes my heart as I throw items from the wooden chest at the foot of my four-poster bed, growing more and more desperate with each minute that passes.

It has to be here.

Heat scorches the side of my face as blue flames burst through the window of my chamber, and the blast knocks me backward. I crash into the full-length mirror, and glass rains down, nicking the top of my head. I throw myself onto my hands and knees and crawl toward the chest as fire catches my curtains and screams sound in the hallway behind me.

Panic threatens to seize my muscles. I'm out of time, but I can't leave them. They're all I have left.

ABOUT ME

I've been writing and drawing ever since I could hold a pencil, crafting stories as early as 1st grade and never really stopping. I'm a huge nerd at heart, with an endless love for animals, magical adventures, and anything that sparks the imagination. When I'm not lost in a good book or working on my latest creative project, I'm fully immersed in the joyful chaos of motherhood, my most rewarding adventure yet. I also enjoy gaming, swimming, rock climbing, hiking, or just soaking in the beauty of the natural world.

MY WRITING

I love writing fantasy and sci-fi with a healthy dose of sapphic romance and romantasy themes. My stories tend to be character-driven, filled with fun banter, heart, and enough slow-burn tension and yearning to make my readers go feral. I'm especially drawn to tales that feature mystical creatures, emotional arcs, and lighthearted moments that make me smile.
