When WH Smith opened its new shop in Churchill Square, Brighton, c. 1968, its bookshelves oddly included "The Dictionary of Slang", which was a tad risqué for WHS.
For reasons unknown, the only entry I remember, is "cunt-struck bastard".
Which kinda lingers.

Twice in one story, the teacher filled in the same word wrongly:

Useful tip.
There seemed to be particular places where this happened.
Not involving water, was a short length of the A1101, north of Wisbech, where there were numerous single car "crashes".
Highways finally admitted it was "adverse camber", and corrected it.
