it asks for either photo ID, a selfie, a credit card, or your email.

But yt already HAS my email? google just wants permission to rife through my inbox (like it isn't already doing that)

I'm not keen on giving them EVEN MORE of my information just so they can sell it or lose it in a data breach
I dont see anything about it being required by my state. But it looks like YouTube rolled out an AI that guesses your age using your watch history, and if it guesses you're under 18, it'll ask to verify
i mostly watch yt for political videos, but oh no, there's Nintendo content in my watch history!
YouTube just asked to verify my age. Bye youtube 🖐
If you HAVE to order online, FTD's website itself might be your best bet? I can't vouch for whether their site is free of the issues I mentioned, tho speaking as someone in the industry, they are far better than most.

But still, it's best to support local florists by ordering with them directly. 🧡
If you're unable to make phone calls, consider going to YOUR OWN local florist. If they're in the FTD network, they can send your order to another florist for little to no charge. You may not learn who the other florist will be, but your florist will charge you (and pay the other florist) properly.
A five-second google search can save you, the florist, and your loved one from these grifters.

Find a florist in your loved one's area and call them. You will know who's making your bouquet AND get a bouquet that is actually worth what you paid for it.
6 - The company will often not tell you where they sent your order, nor will they give the florist your info.

This is only to keep you from finding out who the florist is, how little money they were actually given for your order, and how easy it would've been to just order from the florist instead.
5 - You have no control over what florist gets your order.

Their "local florist" might actually be a corporate grocer's floral department, like Kroger or Safeway-Albertsons, if they're the closest FTD florist to your loved one's address. Something to consider if you are against any big grocers.
4 - Remakes are unfortunately common.

Understandably, when someone pays $80 for flowers, they expect an $80 bouquet. But when a small bouquet arrives, they'll call to complain. The online company then calls the florist to demand a remake and not pay them for it, costing the florist even more.
3 - Companies underpaying the florist for your order.

When the online company takes a large cut AND doesn't pay the florist to deliver, the florist can only do one of two things. They can either make your bouquet smaller to make up the cost, or eat the cost and risk their business.
2 - Offering shady discounts.

They will often give you a deal for free delivery, or 10% off, etc., when the florists themselves don't actually offer that. Delivery is NEVER free for the florist. But if the company doesn't charge you that fee, the florist doesn't get it, either. Which leads to:
There are several ways these online companies screw everyone over.

1 - Charging you more than your bouquet is worth (sometimes double).

This is often for processing, meaning the "hard labor" of entering an address into an automated system that sends your order to the closest florist.
When you want to send flowers, do not order them online. Companies like From You Flowers, Avas, etc. are grifters. They overcharge you to find you a florist, then underpay the florist.

Do some research to find the florist local to your loved one, and place the order with the florist directly.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
I will be increasing my commission prices when 2026 comes along, to keep up with minimum wage in the area that I live. I have fallen pretty behind on that, so the price increases may be higher than I want to do, but they're necessary.

If you're looking to get art from a grem, the time is now! 🦧🧡
