"In the case of land acknowledgements, the ban on factual information is a troubling example of overcompliance to SB1 & a transparent attempt to appease & cower in an anti-DEI moment."

Asking again, if you're a UT-Austin grad, to add your name to this open letter. You can also forward it to President James Davis ([email protected]) and the UT Board of Regents ([email protected]).

🚨Faculty teaching conditions are student learning conditions. Degrading #academicfreedom and free speech affects EVERYONE on campus. This is not the way to build and protect world class colleges and universities!! ⬇️⬇️

I’m a doctoral student at TXST.

The feeling on campus is worse than you imagine. Faculty afraid to speak, grad students feel like they could lose their entire futures if they draw the university president’s ire, undergrads openly worrying about the complete loss of a fundamental right.

Grad student workers at UTAustin: “Even if your classes, your research, your job are yet unaffected, it would be naive to take comfort…what are all the publications in the world when your peers have been expelled + scholarship itself has become nothing but a hollow mouthpiece for the state?” 🔥🔥
The UT Administration is Dismantling Academic Freedom and Lying About It. We Must Stop Them.
Over the last few months, the Trump administration and its acolytes in state governments have launched an existential challenge to academic freedom in university research and teaching. The federal gov...

"We must continue to organize within and beyond academic spaces, whether it's establishing chapters, getting involved in AAUP, or pressuring academic organizations...what we are seeing is that pressure really does work, so we must continue doing that."

My latest: "Numerous studies show that majors in the humanities—typically, in departments of English, history, philosophy, religious studies, classics and languages—lead students to employment and life satisfaction outcomes as positive as those for majors traditionally championed as 'practical.'”

"The stereotype of the underemployed history major is simply not true," professor Andrea Kaston Tange writes.

On this Indigenous People’s Day we reaffirm our commitment to truthful and inclusive history, to spaces that serve our Indigenous students, and to advancing social justice.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a time to celebrate those who first called this land home.

America’s unions recognize the struggles and tragedies they have endured, and we honor the many indigenous communities and cultures that have contributed to the story of our labor movement.
