First attack of the year from Art Fight! Its one of my fav works in a while! Ended up doing a technique with pens n markers that I did when I was in my early 20s and had a blast!

Trying to make a point of experimenting with neutral palettes during AF- here are some illustrations from 2024 & 2025! Its funny, in my 20s I often worked in greyscale, B&W, or brown tones and then I just...stopped! Mayhaps I should try my hand at it more often..

For BeetlePlague! I drew their sona, Fridge, in a couple of (varying attempts at) different styles! From Left to right we have; Edward Gorey, Brett Helquist, C. H. Greenblatt & Thurop Van Orman! These were very influencial artists to a younger me who inhaled a lot of their works! It was a blast working on this- really hope I can do more like it soon!

For BladeofDawn! Their OC Ozzy (who is a sock puppet) was requested to be dressed up, so I put him in an Indian Jones outfit and setting haha!

For astro_kin! This attack was drawn with ballpoint pen (no under-sketch) and then inked with sharpie on cardboard! The white is primarily gel-pen but I did do a few touch-ups on my computer. Supper nice to just play around and go with the flow! Def will submit more traditional attacks like this!!

For Lunammoon! It was interesting to paint in grey scale- or at least try haha! I don't have fully black/grey colors (they're all tinted) but I was able to get pretty close for their detective! Done with gouache, colored pencil and a lil digital touch-ups.

I do know some people use tracing paper and put it on their tablet- or sketches on their tablet, and line that way/ink that way? Also real rulers and other tools 🤔

Its funny, I feel like I have a much steadier hand when I draw traditionally- much more control to. Stabilization helps a bit, though I admit I barely know how CSP works even after using it for two years. 🤡

heck yeah!! Glad it picked up and that you had fun!! Cons always seem like a blast- cant visit them often but I enjoy hearing folks stories and watching con vids ✨

Yeaah, got that virus going around 😩 A co-worker says it lasts about 3 weeks and Im almost at 2.5 so fingers crossed haha! Im glad you’re feeling better- did the con go well? I also hope you can take care of yourself!!

Oh gosh, thank you! Honestly I wasn't expecting anyone to like it, much less comment! It was a risk on this one HAHA!! I'm glad I took it, it helped me understand what I need to practice more but also confirmed that I really do love working with mixed media!!
