You almost hit on the answer Ron. It’s not just that they claim that others can’t be happy, it’s that they were unable to be Happy. And honestly it you want to understand the main motivations of everyone of them, it’s that. A deep fear that others have done what they could not.

My dad died when I was 10 years old back in 1976’. My mom had only ever been a housewife. If we didn’t have a widows pension and Foodstamps we would have gone hungry and been out on the street. I don’t understand how people can not see how necessary a safety net is.

So I’m late to the party (as per usual) and just found out about the whole Kristen Bell controversy over her making a dark joke about promising to Never kill her husband on their anniversary. I don’t get what people are so upset about. My wife make jokes about poisoning each other all the time.
