Hello, new friends! 👋

I'm Ben. I'm a software/product guy and one of the world's top Notion experts. I make software and currently run the NotionMastery.com program.

Connect with me if you're interested in my favorite topics: Systems, Complexity, Permaculture.

Here are my favorite books:
I think you might enjoy this essay based on some of the things you noted in yours.
I see. It reminds me a bit of Adam Neely's recent one on ethics in music, and how genres have different values, which are cultural encoded. Product developers might have different ethics than traditional generative artists (talking code-generated, not LLM-gen here).

The thing that no AI company has officially communicated to anyone is that the minute there's decent enough agentic AI — an AI using apps for you — you will never be able to buy anything of any value online ever again. Unless, of course, you use their agentic AI...
yes, it is. wasn't an accident.
The most common problem that AI solves is "summarize my week [using siloed data from all the corporations that own my work]". What might you say is the actual underlying problem for people and companies here?
anyone who said silksong is not as hard as nine sols. what? how? the runbacks alone make silksong 10x harder. not to mention the intentionally designed traps, these devs seriously hate their fans 😂
fuck yeah, man
I left Spotify after 9 years because of the CEO's autonomous weapons investment shit, but it's not really about Spotify individually at all. It's about trying to be better, and intentional, and asking yourself if you're making the world you want

What Tressie says below is essentially the point of my @insidehighered.com column today. We know what students need (and want) and it has nothing to do with the pivot to AI. In fact, it's more like the opposite. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/colu...
I appreciate Steam doing this a lot. More of this, please.
Halfway done with "octodoodles" - a daily musical sketch for one month. Favs so far: "cloud shape", "cozy socks", "bee", "cozy sweater".

I'm gonna try to articulate something I've been thinking about for a while, regarding *why* disillusionment, distrust, & dissatisfaction with democracy are rising.

Almost everything I read takes this phenomenon as an exogenous shock, assuming no one chose to make it so. I suspect that's incomplete.

Every single word of this was written with the intent of taking the world further down the road to darkness.
i don't have the words to emphasise how seriously bad things are gonna get
ever encounter a reality-breaking event? one time marie and I were talking about don hertzfeld's reiected while walking around vancouver and I picked up a random piece of trash and on it was written "je suis une banane".
just Notion, and I don't actually need it
i don't think it works but it works (if that makes any sense)

Feels like a proxied religious war. Silicon Valley gestating their own egregore with AI fundamentalism, which in turn helps "the right" and "the left" (meaningless terms at this point) workshop/worship their own hyperindivdualized gods; vessels for hopes and fears. Deitycraft—as old as the species.
They are becoming experts at living in their own reality. And I guess the endgame is if they can bear it long enough, they will actually emerge into the white christian utopia that they keep talking about. It's literally large scale group manifesting.
aww, thanks! I published my version of the events again too since it was locked over on my twxtter account.

DMing @mariepoulin.com in ~2010 on twitter to compliment her on a website design had a pretty decent outcome.
