I appreciate that the Mamdani-Cuomo-Sliwa answer turns this into a classic comedy formula, with Sliwa as the punchline

--several posters are asserting or implying that No Kings is actively useless or outright harmful to the anti-Trump cause, which is very strange to me
I can sorta see, in a vacuum, someone arguing that No Kings won't work despite its size because Trump is too strong, or No Kings isn't sufficiently organized right now for a longer fight the way the CRM was, etc., but--
Real Trump: I love tariffs, tariffs are great

Trumpbot 9001: tariffs are horrible. Who came up with this thing? I'd never do tariffs. Awful, awful idea.
Looking forward to Republican's AI Trump #19581 that ends up saying the complete opposite of what actual Trump said

In fairness, Kyle Katarn, Thrawn, Rogue Squadron games, and KOTOR 1 and 2 were neat

Though the rest...hrm...
I appreciate how none of the 27 guns are ever used, though "knock a star destroyer into an artificially placed black hole by flying your indestructible ship through the bridge" was a neat trick
Best part of EU: a starfighter-sized spaceship that's completely indestructible and can blow up suns and has like 27 guns on it

worst part of EU: a starfighter-sized spaceship that's completely indestructible and can blow up suns and has like 27 guns on it
I've seen assurance by other folks on here that if those data centers aren't used for AI then they can easily be repurposed for other stuff that needs data center computing? Though I don't know enough about the industry to know what other demand those data centers will fulfill after AI
Though, it seems odd to me that both the CDC as well as the WHO would officially recognize this syndrome if they weren't confident that it is actually directly connected to covid
--it appears to be a genuine problem and not exactly super uncommon, if I'm reading this correctly? I am steadily becoming more convinced that continued masking could well be necessary to address this
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_CO... Long COVID seems to be enough of a thing that the WHO and CDC officially recognize it as a syndrome. I had heard the phrase early on in the pandemic but then it petered out in my corner of the internet so I'd thought it was a misunderstanding of covid-19, but--
Long COVID - Wikipedia

A lot of folks in the thread are insisting that continuing to wear masks as much as possible is necessary to limit the spread of Covid and thus Long Covid, but has there been a scientific consensus on whether Long covid is actually a thing?
What began as a conflict over whether emulsified cheese dips (ex: Velveeta) are "real cheese" escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds...
Box art for the Total Annihilation videogame, whose intro blurb is referenced in the post
Ooh, has the "heterodox" model of hoplite warfare you've mentioned on the blog (and discussed with Dr. Konijnendijk) becoming more widely accepted in academia? 👀
I feel like the immediate rebuttal to that is "just tax the rich, then, lmao", but I'm actually curious as to how much more taxes you could get out of the rich (for whatever definition of "rich" and "more taxes" you want to use, I suppose)?

i am going to try to give a framework of my own understanding which laypeople can understand.
yeah - I was impressed by the token-prediction as being as powerful as it is, but there's more going on than that and I don't really follow it any more.
Though whether this will hold true if AI is implemented the way Altman wants to, remains to be seen
I suppose, historically speaking, technological disruptions that have obsoleted many jobs also typically opened new ones, even if the transition hasn't always been kind for individuals
So in Altman's AI future, he seems to think that we will again have new kinds of jobs that will seem fake to us, but will nonetheless pay and sustain us, so it'll all work out in the end.
Altman seems to bring up the analogy of the farmer because to a farmer from 1950 or before, many of our knowledge-based jobs seem "fake" yet our modern "fake" jobs still pay and sustain us.
