      It's interesting to observe the parallels between the NYC and Seattle mayoral elections. In both cases, I'm seeing people saying the race is all about turnout, with the understanding that young people's votes are needed for the progressive choice in both cities to win out.

      In general, this council focuses obsessively on the small stuff and disdains previous elected officials and the reasons behind their decisions. The worst instinct of all politicians is to behave as if they are the first person to ever hold their position or ask specific questions.

      Seattle has always fought people who want to sell food but can't afford a storefront; we used to have basically NO food trucks, and the city has very slowly started allowing them to exist within constraints over the past 10 years. Classist and aesthetic puritanism is a feature of THIS city.
