Hey. In case no one has said this to you in 20 years:

I don't care how chilly and windy it is in Chicago today. Van Leeuwen opened, and I'm going to eat so much vegan ice cream that they will be forced to close again.

70% of articles covering Trump's anti-trans executive orders did not quote a single trans person. Let that sink in.

Everyone needs to read this new report from @transjournalists.org and understand how we can be more intentional in our sourcing when covering these stories.
How journalists covered the attack on trans rights in Trump's first 100 days
Trans perspectives were rarely present in articles about the consequences federal actions would have on their lives, according to an analysis conducted by Berkeley Media Studies Group in partnership w...

Releasing hoarded wealth from the few to the many would fix almost every problem we have. Financial security solves not just the obvious ones like homelessness, hunger, and crime, but deeper ones, too, like creating more doctors, innovations, art, tolerance, love.

AI is already a blight to the environment and artists, and you had to throw potentially the most famously, creepily, sexually exploited deceased face onto it? Who is this FOR???

When I was in Japan a decade ago, I stayed at an international travel-themed hotel in Ikebukuro. They sold food inspired by many countries. The "America" dish was a mountain of mini corn dogs with an American flag stuck on top. I still think about this almost daily.

I saw a video of someone deep in the paint about how little investigation there has actually been into his death, calling it a conspiracy... and I think maybe they underestimate the simple fact that the fascists did not actually care about that dude.

There she is again
Beside the fountain lookin' out
Upon the people here
It's awfully clear
She's haunting me and honestly
I'm honored to be haunted
By the likes of she
Lucky me

She's the ghost of Chicago

Called shot: In my lifetime, we will get to a point where Christmas decorations and advertisements will be up year round. Christmas ads were airing October 1 this year, the limiters are off.

Sea of Thieves was experiencing server issues, so the gang hopped on Phasmophobia to enjoy orb. @playphasmo.bsky.social
A screenshot from the multi-player video game Phasmophobia. Two men and a woman bend all the way backwards at the waist, surrounding a red moon-like orb atop a black platform. Ghost hunting equipment lines the walls, ignored.

Yes, you should be surprised and horrified by secret federal police running around our city kidnapping immigrants, crashing cars, launching chemical weapons and shooting and killing people. This is a thing you should be *perpetually* shocked by. We lose when we become numb to it.

This is far from the worst part about ICE occupation, but helicopter noise every day is annoying as hell. We are all just trying to enjoy an autumn morning, we don't need the constant sound of warfare. Park the military aircraft and enjoy a corn maze with your family or something.

Where are you right now if you're not in Chicago weeping through every movement of Stardew Valley: Symphony of Seasons??

I don't pay any attention to sports, so the fact that a baseball game that doesn't even involve Chicago has found my feed is wild. 15 innings?? Excuse me, guys??

I'm assuming whatever it is is AI, given the White House's penchant for publicly posting AI videos.
